I speed read your diary and really enjoyed it. You should have a nice stash with a lot of variety, which is always nice.
I can appreciate your commitment to not harvesting early and letting a plant finish. I’m from the same school of thought and hate to see growers chopping plants that could benefit from more time.
That said, I’ve been guilty of waiting too long. Several times actually I’ve waited and waited, usually for the perfect mix of trichomes, only to have that mix never appear. What’s worse is the buds lost a lot of their aroma and were def not as sticky as a couple weeks earlier.
I couldn’t help but wonder if the same thing was happening here. I took notice when u were describing one of the plants in the last week or so and indicated it didn’t really have much smell. Did the nose come back after dry & cure?
I’ve come to realize that there will always be some percentage of clear trichs. Judging ripeness from trich ratios is a moving target IMO.
Many years ago when I grew outside up until 5-5 yrs ago when I jumped in the indoor game, I would never think of chopping a healthy plant that had any white pistils showing.
But more recently I’ve backed away from that absolute blanket policy and believe there are situations where the buds can be ripe and still yet have a few white pistils.
Anyway, I hate to ramble and would like to hear about your finished product. More specifically if the buds that had lost their smell ever got it back.
Thanks again for sharing your grow…I really did enjoy it.
