Help w/ DWC issues

Northern lights auto 28 days old

Help IDing my problem. Ive got an issue with my DWC grow and cant seem to figure out what it is. Ive tried treating it as nute burn at first they recovered well. I then dosed down my nutes to about 1/8th strength ans they took off for the first week. After my res change and adding my nutes the next day i started seeing issues. At first i thought i had a CalMag issue and treates it as such and they seemed to do better for a few days then tanked. I flushed the system gave them a few days to recover which they started too then right back to having spots (brown/bronze.) My friend suggested it could be the beginning phases of root rot bc my ph has been swining like crazy with and without nutes ie. 5.8 after ph down check 3 hours later up to 6.8, down to 5.8 again 3 hours later its at 6.6 or 7.0. As of yesterday i flushed again added Kangaroots and ph’d to 6.0. I woke up this morning checked I’m at 7.

Hydroguard is on the way, should be here by Monday. Res temp is generwlly between 68 and 72 (add ice bottles asap) i have about a 2 inch gap between bottom of net pot and water line. The roots
Do not feel slimey the discoloration im accrediting too the kangaroots i added. Im onky running the kangaroots solo bc i was worried if it was nute burn again (doubtful) and my friend said the benny bacteria in it could potentially help if it was root rot. Im switching nutes from FoxFarm to Floraflex bc after further research ive read fox has alot of issues. Is it possibke that my girls are starving? I initially had nute burn no doubt and i corrected that but is it possible ive been going too light on the nutes?

Current readings 12pm

EC 0.23
Res temp 66.8
Ph 7.0 (added ph down just now)
Air temp 79
RH 55 to 70 (63 currently)
Ppm 223 (tap water is roughly 90 to 110)

Whats EC of 0,23? If thats your nutrient solution than you like grow in pure tap of 90-110ppm which is 0,18-0.22 EC @500scale? Even if the roots are stained by some product, they do not look happy. I think you should be somewhere around 350ppm feeding right now including ppms of your tap. What about your lighting setup?

Thx for the reply, when I was feeding I was at 380ish @ 700 scale. Yesterday when I flushed roots were nice and white no slimey feel, today just discolored still no slimey feel. I was worried by the look of my leaves that it was a possible CalMag deficiency so I added that the first time and they looked better...at first. Then the brown and rust spots started spreading rapidly so I assumed I'd nute burned them with the additional nutes. My friend suggested the root rot idea and to flush and then add the kangaroots only until my hydroguard came in. Then flush again add hydro guard only for 24hrs before adding nutes again to see if ph would stabilize bc that's the other issue, its constantly rising

i'd put that bottle of kangaroots away for now. worm shit doesn't belong in dwc until you really know what you are doing IMO

what are you using for base nutes?

i would use some peroxide or chlorine until your hydroguard comes. the roots look a bit slimy to me

rust spots are a Ca deficiency
a yellowing between the veins is a Mg defic

That's what I was thinking so I ran FF CalMag it helped a bit then they tanked again and the brown spots spread to new leaves. My base nutes are the foxfsrm trio but I have floraflex on the way and will flush system completely before I start the new line. Should've just bucked up and got them to begin with but was trying to penny pinch lol

i've read way too many posts here of people that have trouble in dwc with fox farm stuff. too much organic crap in them i think

is that plant from seed? or did you buy a clone? if from seed, maybe get another one started. that might not survive.

I think we read the same posts, unfortunately after I started and bought the foxfarm nutes. Yes I grew them from seeds and I would start more but I'm moving a few weeks after these would be harvested so the timing worked out running auto's over photo. If she dies I'll take my licks and lessons learned and start fresh at my new place. Appreciate the responses everyone and will keep you updated.

@Ed Rosestale I missed part of your response im sorry. My lights are both set to manufacturer recommendations 18 inches from canopy, I'm running a 1500w and 2000w Blurple from KingLED. I can get actual readings for lux, par etc etc if you'd like but when I set them they fell within range and I haven't touched them since.

I have taken a look into the lights you have mentioned and there are more models of so called 2000w of this manufacturer. We all know the actual draw is different, but thats not the point. Anyway the micromoles in par maps vary from 1200-1700 at 18”. Thats sounds a litlle bit too much and despite its blurple, it can create pretty strong hotspot just straight under. So have your seed sprouted with first true leaves green and was the young plant nice and healthy at some period of time under those lights? And than in some moment started to look like shit or was it hard struggle from the beginning?

They were actually doing real well until I started adding nutes, I had the light set at about 26 inches, if my memory serves me right, week 3 but the spotting had already begun. Think I should raise the lights a bit? Another user suggested I get my ec to 1.8 to 2.0 ppm 800 to 1000 and ph 5.6 to 6.0 and keep that steady and observe to rule nutes out. Does that sound reasonable or do you think I'd nuke my plants?

I think 1,8 - 2,0 is too heavy for the plant at this shape and stage. I would raise the light back to your 26”, treat the roots with peroxide as suggested, 0,5% worked well for me when I was treating rot and than go with EC 1,0-1,2 with synthetics only. Assuming those nutrients are ballanced including calcium and magnesium to rule out possible defficiencies.

Maybe I'm an idiot but I just thought of something, could it be from my humidifier? I noticed a white residue on my humidifier this morning, where it sprays out, quick Google said its excess minerals the filter didn't pick up. The plant that's most heavily affected is closest to it and the least is furthest

ppm, ec and ph is holding steady, Temps are stable and it seems after a clorox treatment the spots have stopped spreading, I trimmed bad/dead leaves to expose new growth will update in a few days

Yes, the red and the blue discoloration is not normal. :p

Sounds good, what are room temps, humidity ect..?
