First time growing organic

Hi all- new here, and new to organics. Ivd been growing for 15 years, and have done a mix of hydro and soil, both container and Inground. I have always used Chem fert. This will be my first grow going 100% organic.

My current plan is
SOIL: Coast of Maine potting soil (bar harbor blend)
FERT: Nectar of the gods (spartan regime)

I’d like to add microbes to the soil, along with compost tea feeds. I need to learn more about them and see what my best options for applying them is.

thoughts? Suggestions? Open to other options for fert and soil!

There is a nectar of the god thread you should definitely brush up on. It’s a unique nutrient line. I ran nectar #4 soil (their soil is really nice quality) and followed the Greek regime. I’d do two or three aerated compost teas a cycle and I would also use the cultured biologix teas. Great Results! also nectar (and cultured) will offer you a sample kit of their product. The nectar sample was $28 shipped and it came with everything for the spartan regime.

id also check out cultured biologix nutrient line.Nectar is suppose to be dropping some microbe teas any day now. You’ll also want to buy some “slf-100” if you do go nectar. It’s highly recommended by all who run nectar.

Nowadays I’m really into building my own soil. I might run the cultured Line to experiment. I keep the core bottles of nectar as my backup if my plants need something asap.

Thanks for the info- I just read threw the thread, pretty interesting info. Im seeing some comments saying that nectar fert NEEDS to be used with nectar soil?? any validity to that? im thinking its PH issues more than anything?

Nah, any soil will do. People just like the quality of their soil. I can’t get it locally (I’m in LA - go figure) so I have used ocean forest and diy soil no problem. You have get into a habit of doing slurries with nectar. My tap water is Bad. I had issues every time I tried to use it. I had to stick with RO water and up’d the demeters destiny (think of this as your “cal-mag”) to 3x the recommended amount.

Waste of
$$$$
Dry organic fert
Compost
Ewc
Fish fertelizer
Nectar is for newbs wow want to spend money on magic potion lol
Build a soil is the winner or any dry organic fertelizer lol just read more organic stuff ...
Exactly. I use organic liquid nutes for my mother plants (liquid fish and soluble kelp powder, nothing fancy) only because they are in 1 quart pots. Even then I only give it to them every couple weeks. Anything else - big container, dry fertilizer blend + worm castings, mostly water-only, but I do keep the fish fert on hand if they need a quick boost.

So simple, I do not miss the days of mixing more than 2 products in a jug of water every time I want to water my plants...I can see how NFTG would appeal to someone who is used to hydroponic growing, but for organic growing, dry ferts and water is the way to go IMO

if there are 1000 organic growers on this site there are 1000 different ways to grow organically and each is the best

for me i do coco, homemade ewc, bat guano, manure, wheat bran, basalt rock, lava rock, pumice, perlite and thats it. mulch and go. i dont topdress during a cycle for my big 74L pots and for small pots 11L i use liquid ewc and liquid bat guano with spirulina or kelp after 3-4 weeks.

it seems to be working well for me as i cant complain about the yield or the quality. so you dont have to complicate this shit for yourself you can grow weed and any other plant with 2-3 amendments and straight water.

To each their own. Personally, running nectar is a blast. I had fun with it.

I didn’t want to harsh you mellow but since everyone else is; I stopped running nectar because it gets really pricey. If I was only running a handful of plants I probably wouldn’t care as much.

the other aspect is time; i was mixing like 7 bottles every other day. This can be tedious to some, where some like playing mad scientist in the grow room. it started cutting into my family time too much. My wife also would get pretty pissed when she had to babysit the plants for me.
