Seeds are cracking. Should I put them in starter/seedling soil or straight to adult soil?

I'm going to $WMT right now to see if they have seedling soil in stock. The hydro place has adult soil.

Damn dude, have you thought about doing maybe 2 plants until you get it figured out?
I typically go root riot plug to a mix ofainly seed starter with a little bit or EWC, Myco, compost, soil.

OK, I'll get the seed starter mix, if they have it. It's still wintry here.

Tomorrow I'll plant the best nine. The rest get tossed. Later I'll whittle the nine down.... and so on. I have many seeds. They'll stop working after awhile.

The local stores by me only have the Miracle Gro soils so I'm going to use the existing MG organic soil I have on hand for these sprouts. In the future before next transplant I'll go to the hydro store for designer soil.

How much water should I put onto these sprouts once in the red Solo cups? I'm thinking 3 ounces water in a 20 ounce cup with the seed sprouts 1/2" deep.

Pic of 3oz, 20oz for size comparison:

I usually wet the soil in a trash bag or something and toss it around till its evenly wet. Then fill the cups and add seed.
Shouldnt need another watering for a while. Warm water works best if you have really dry peat in the mix

One with an analog dial and holds at least 4 liters/1 gallon of water. These are the two i currently use.

I believe I read you're growing in the basement, right? How's the temps there? You plan on using an exhaust fan?
Temp's in the tent w/light on have been hovering around 77°F, it's 28°F outside. Some of the sprouts are poking through the dirt so I'm going to go pickup this humidifier:

I've got a fan, etc. and will figure out exhaust later. I'm worried about mold w/introducing the humidifier.

This one seemed like the better buy and is filter free. But it's either on or off. Attach it to a timer?

I would only use one that lets you set the RH.

You mention lights on temps are around 77, what are they during lights out?
I went with the one that heats. It's on a timer. RH seems to be consistent @ around 55%.

Right now I just don't turn off the lights. Lights have been always on.

I did figure out a basement return vent was blocked and unblocked it so the basement is slowly warming up, This is big development. Ha!

Looking good so far.

These turned one week from paper towel drop, yesterday. Eight days old.

They do look dry. Resisting the temptation to water them. :)

I'd use a spray bottle to water at thst point.
I don't think they need water this exact moment but probably should be watered over the next 24 hours.

How many sprays should I give them?

Should I get a handle on the amount that comes out in one spray by lining a paper cup with plastic wrap then spraying a few sprays into the cup pchit, pchit, pchit then remove the water with my pipette thus measuring the water amount in the process?

Thanks! :)

That's certainly 1 way to do it. I kind of just wing it with the spray bottle, maybe 3-5 sprays?
