Its definitely not mycorrhiza spores, its a saprophytic fungi that is common in bags of soil that sit around with poor ventilation.

It did just sit around, in a sealed bag. Thanks for the info

Its just saprophytic white mold. Common in bagged soils. Think of them as little food converters.

Its definitely better than what I found in my bags of Roots soil.

I would probably fuck it up. I tried Mother Earth coco/perlite about 6 to 8 months ago and the clones wouldn't even take off. I didn't know what I was doing wrong.

I used 1 gallon pots filled loosely. Fed with Dyna grow nutes with a little extra cal/mag in R/O water @ 500 ppm. They never took off. Just sat there and started to die. I took the half dead clones out and washed the roots. Transplanted them into crappy Pro-mix and they took off in 3 days. I was clueless to what I did wrong and never went back to coco based products.

If I can figure out the right process I would make the change but I couldn't get any help on the issue last time so I gave up.

I'm pretty sure I heard Fox Farms uses Canadian residential compost to make their soils, the shit people throw in their compost bins could be anything so who knows. I've never saw mycos grow in a ball shape, to me that looks like eggs or some other contaminant, potentially non-beneficial.

Don't know about your area, but I live within a couple hundred miles of where FF is made (at least on the West coast), and they do not use any household compost.

I finally went with Coast of Maine as my base mix.

CoM has a lot of rich soil blends loaded with Calcium and chitin. They compost all the "waste" from the processing boats and fisheries.
I havent found any unwanted critters but that could be due the chitin.

Do they have a good amount of perlite already or are you adding extra? The last batch of Roots organic I got had quite a few rocks, not pebbles. It was on clearance at Walmart online for 12 bucks a bag so I was thinking it might have just been a bad batch.

I add a few cups and thats it.
I find small mushrooms growing in recipe 420 bags occasionally too.

I looked around at their website. I'm in the south east united states and it's been very hard to find a good compost for the soil I want to make. Coast of Maine didn't have any distributors near me. I found a hydro store in Atl and they carried Malibu BU compost. I ordered what I needed, it was still expensive as hell, and then I heard some not great stuff about the malibu. At this point I don't have many options. I'd love to find Oly Mountain.
