GH MaxiGro & MaxiBloom users?

Are you using coco or soil? Sorry if I missed that. I’m trying maxi bloom only in coco DTW with no cal mag to see if the maxi will carry them without adding cal/mag
I’m using flora nova bloom for my current run but I have to add cal/mag so trying the maxi bloom on some clones as a test.
I think the maxi bloom will work fine without adding the extra cal/mag but seeing what others think.
Also I found the 16lb maxi bloom for 72 bucks with shipping so that’s super cheap since I’m only using 2grams per gallon
I use coco. I've used MaxiBloom for a long time and never have to use a calmag supplement.
I use 1/2 tsp. per gallon.........never more than that, and I never have a discolored leaf.

What a deal!

Nobody needs to add calmag to maxibloom ever.
Hello, don't know exactly why but on more than one grow I've had leaf spots that stopped appearing after a light calmag feed. I was using coco in 2 gallon hempy buckets. Now when using coco I use .5 tsp Maxigro veg and .5 tsp Maxibloom flower with 5 drops calmag per gallon and my girls have done very well, no brown spots. I'd rather not use calmag but there it is. Any suggestions.

I've used MaxiBloom from start to finish in coco and soil. No calmag and no problems. In fact I never use calmag regardless of whether I'm growing hydro, coco, or soil. All you have to do is use nutrients that already have enough of both in them. The cheaper dry nutrients usually have everything the plant needs unlike some of the fancy cannabis specific bottled nutes that leave things out so they can sell you more different bottles.

Also, unless there is legitimate reason not to, for instance being on a well with extremely hard water then always use tap water which will have calcium in it.
I have really hard water so I mix 50/50 tap and spring and using the flora nava bloom I have to use 1ml per gal of cal/mag or I start seeing a deficiency. The 1ml keeps it from showing so I’ve stuck with it but kinda figured since the maxi bloom has a good amount of both it would work good without adding any.

Not sure if I mentioned it, I'm on well water with a ppm of ~500 and ph of 7.5

In ProMix HP, 3gallon fabric bags and 600w MH/HPS.

No cal mag, no ph down ;)

I’m using maxibloom right now, dwc and peat/perlite mix so far so good my hydro plants fogdog autos are loving it and stink at early mid flower.

best thing about it though is how easy it makes things, I just buffer my water with silica, add the same amount of ph down, then a teaspoon of maxi per gallon of water. No lockouts, no ph swings, just mix it and go.

I have the same issue if I don't use cal-mag (when growing in 2L hempy pop bottles, using MaxiBloom).

Every grow is the same, leaf spots at about 3 weeks if I don't use cal-mag.....typically, I can stop using cal-mag once they are about 10 to 12 weeks old.

IMHO, the water I use is basically mountain feed water, so I'm guessing it has little to nil natural calcium/magnesium

MaxiGro and MaxiBloom are the exact same prices, so using MaxiGro for the first few weeks would not change the overall price per grow.

I use MaxiBloom from start to finish, but I'm considering buying some MaxiGro because there no additional cost other than buying the bag of MaxiGro, which will only prolong the lifespan of the bag of MaxiBloom.
Exactly. I’ve been messing around with the maxi since the day it came out. I personally have always used the Gro while in veg. And 50/50 the first couple weeks of flower. It does not cost any extra using the maxigro also.
I’m in dirt these days and I use megacrop only. If I was doing a more tradional hydro setup i would prob use something a little cleaner as the megacrop gunks shit up. Prob either use the maxi or jacks.

Sup guys. So glad I found this thread. I am a new Maxi series user and I have been trying to follow the directions (and use a little less) and I feel like I am burning my plants. I am seeing just the tips of the leaves burn, nothing worse than that. But all the tips burn. Also my buds are forming pretty well.. but I am not getting the denseness that I am going for. It seems like they are super leafy.

I am adding the smallest scoop with what it comes with.. i think this is a teaspoon? A teaspoon is almost 5 grams and the charts say for medium feed its 4.5 grams per gallon so basically a teaspoon. Mick: Your only using 1/2 that? They also recommend using cal mag throughout the entire grow.

I grow in coco.. and have read everywhere you are supposed to be using cal mag.. but i think maybe using the full tsp per gallon PLUS cal mag that is whats causing the burning?

My PPMs range from 400/500 - 800 (peak flowering). I irrigate twice per week and flush with just 1/2 calmag like once a week maybe once every 2 weeks. Do I need to flush more? My runoff ppms/pH are all in line with plants consuming nutrients. If anything.. the pH of the runoff is sometimes higher than incoming.. which if i understand correctly means the plants are using up nutrients faster than water?

I also use RO water with a base PPM of 0..

Any thoughts/advice is super appreciated! Thanks for the help guys!!

I assume your term irrigate means feeding? I feed twice a day to run off.
I have never flushed......why do you?

about every 2 weeks my ppms will start rising in runoff, not decrease, so I figure it makes sense to flush some pure water through there. you think thats my problem? I am feeding twice as much as you are.. thats what im thinking. Shit seems to be super strong food

Been using Maxigro and Maxibloom for FOUR years. Coco and perlite ph 5.8-6.1 with aged tap water. 1/2 tsp gro for veg or bloom for flower and 5 drops calimag to gallon. One fertigation a day. Back off a touch if leaves' tips are brown. Teaspoon of maxi per gallon for me =burnt weed on the grow, too much. Remember fertilizer recommendations are a guide, written by the company that sells it. Every fertigation at least 1-2 oz run off -each plant. Summer give the runoff to the maters or the compost. Thanks be Jesus the routine works great for us. It's like wine, enough is good and too much is trouble. No calimag gives my girls light brown blotches on random leaf places. I've learned enough is enough for feeding weed. Ooooyeahh!!

Nice.. I will try to cut down my dose. With my RO water 1/2 ppm per gallon is going to make me about a 300 - 400 PPM solution. Seems really low but what the hell!

I run .8 ec in late bloom and early veg, but in between I never go above 1 EC. If you find your ppms are rising, it just means you aren't feeding to enough runoff. Flushing with pure water is one of the worst things you can do-if you need to reduce your ppms, "flush" with nutrient solution set to the PPM you want to end up with, then just run it through until you get plenty of extra runoff.

Two rules of coco:

1. Never let it dry! The EC will spike.
2. Never flush with straight water! RO or distilled is the worst, it leaches the cal and mag out.

I try to keep run-off within about 200ppm/.1ec of the feed, interested to hear what the experienced guys think.
Almost everyone says ignore run-off ph with coco. I tracked it on the last run and saw no real pattern, it fluctuates.

FWIW, I'm at .8ec/400ppm in early veg with Jacks 321.

i have been doing this to thought i was the only one, some heavy feeders need more though it seems, or you need to feed more often. like blueberry always needs more so i have found out.

more as in she needed calmag to stay alive or i needed to feed her maxi everyday in soil.

Darn curiosity has the better of me, again ;)

I have used Advanced Nutrients M/G/B with acceptable results, didn't care for the mixing with multiple bottles.

Last grow I used Mega Crop one part, loved the ease of weighing out One Part nutrients and quite acceptable results !

This grow I'm doing five different strains and am considering using GH MaxiGro/MaxiBloom for two (?) plants.

And might as well drink the cool aid and go with Dry KoolBloom and Liquid KoolBloom

Thoughts ?

Cheers
Been using Maxigro and Maxibloom for years. Half tsp gro for veg and half tsp bloom for 12-12 flower per gallon with 5 drops calimag. Got a bag of Kool bloom and a quart of Liquid Kool bloom that I regret buying along with a few other bottles of NO NEED. The girls do not need theKOOL. They like aged tap for water with white vinegar ph 5.8-6.2. hempy with coco and perlite fertigating once a day to a few ounces of run off and yes this ganja is wonderful. Hope you grow real good weed.

MaxiGrow, Liquid KoolBloom, and Dry KoolBloom are not necessary............waste of money.
Like what you say, I use maxi grow till the 12-12 switch. The girls look alittle greener and more robust. That's my experience. Used only Maxibloom for many grows but like the look of the ladies more better when they start with grow. Small bag cost <$20 and will last for very many grows. Might get a few extra joints of lovely per girl?
