Pretty sure it's used to sharping straight razor, people use them for taking cuts when cloning.

Used on any knife. Don't really need a stone unless you need to badly reshape your blade. Keeps em shaving sharp

i made the strop on the right from one of my old duty belts.

the one on the left i got from a flea market, dont really use it.

i use diamond stones, then a gerber steel, then ceramic rod , then a few strokes with my leather to finish up.

I go straight from stone to strop. Dosent matter if I finish on a 320 stone or 4000 the strop makes it so much sharper in just 10 strokes on each side.
