Gun control is coming

Must be quite proud to be the lube that spins the wheel as opposed to steering towards a semblance of sanity when it comes to gun ownership. The “your” crowd you refer to has offered many reasonable ideals that would help stem the flow of senseless killings. As a gun owner I’m all for using any tools available to do that, while still allowing reasonable access to firearms. Guess that’s an unreasonable request for some.
Id be all for more paperwork or a longer ATF questionnaire than the one i already have to fill out. Mandatory safety classes and some training wouldnt hurt either, someone buying a gun that they never learn to use can be super dangerous if the unfortunate need arises.

But when the left goes straight to talking about gun bans, magazine size bans, buybacks, registries, etc, fuck right off.

find one (1) post that does that and link to it.
i present, exhibit A. If you need a refresher go read the rest of the subsequent pages, terms like Assault rifle 15 and machine gun were thrown around with absolute ignorance, shocker.
Remember folks...................skateboards are weapons. Next time you see someone with a skateboard......................shoot 'em with a machine gun. That'll slim the herd a bit

Anti-gun advocates tried to change the definition of assault weapon to confuse the public. And a lot of people fell for it, :wall:.

Conservatives prefer to dive into unimportant minutia rather than have an honest debate. Regarding the source you cite:

  • Overall, we rate the NRA – Institute for Legal Action Right Biased based on near 100% endorsement of Republican candidates. We also rate them Mixed for factual reporting due to one sided reporting, occasional use of poor sources, and two failed fact checks.
What does it matter to the families of the 15,000 dead from gun homicides this year what the NRA thinks Assault Rifle means?

So, yeah, nobody cares about your fascination with a bit of jargon. Regarding the link to an article put out by NRA Institute for Legislative Action -- a lobby group with a history of one-sided reporting, occasional use of poor sources and failed fact checks, I try not to read propaganda, right or left. That one was obviously right wing propaganda. Not only that but it is funded by Russian money. So, yeah, I did not open it. Reading that crap makes a person less informed. Did you read it? lulz

Haha no i cant either, i worded the post ironically. Machine gun is the term a handful of the uneducated anti gun folks here have used to refer to any scary looking semi auto rifle.
I call attention to another use of a rhetorical fallacy. This one is called "ad-hominem". Rhetorical fallacies like an ad-hominem attack are used by people who have no valid argument and yet they feel the need to "win" the debate. To see that kind of behavior on an anonymous pot board. It's kind of sad,. I mean, what's the point?

I think your usage of “the left” is way to broad but that seems to be the norm now, painting with a broad brush. I am a firm believer in mandatory gun training to purchase any gun. Handguns I am happy to see gone but where I am they are restricted and now there is a ban on any sale or importation, won’t happen ever in the States. Registries I don’t think help much but licensing yes, again with training. Why would you be opposed to mag limits? I haven’t heard much about buybacks but if people want to get rid of a gun they have no use for a buyback is a viable option I would think.

you know, the funny thing in all of this is that most "assault weapons" are in a carbine configuration, and carbines are the least used weapons in gun deaths...handguns reign supreme, by a huge margin, even in mass shootings.

The trend has been toward AR-types, in lockstep with NRA advertising.

Canadians are still interested in the conversations regarding gun control, regardless of having a vote.

James Madison and the bill of rights aren't why people have the right to use weapons to defend themselves. Rights don't come from "the bill of rights", some rights are enumerated there, but not all of them.
That's why amendments 9 and 10 were included in the bill of rights.

Something can be regulated by legislation which strips people of rights, so looking at government words for why people have rights is a bit of a distraction and non sequitur. Government COULD protect rights, but more often tramples them or removes them. Cannabis prohibition for instance.

People often confuse rights with government granted privileges, which is the path to their own mental and physical enslavement. I suspect "well regulated" meant something different than you are implying when James Madison used it, but it wouldn't matter anyway, since rights don't come from government scribbles on paper.
I remember hearing someone recite your sovereign citizen mantra in court one time right before the Judge threw the guy in jail. But my point remains that Madison would never have believed that the right to bear arms was unlimited. He was trying to provide for national defense without a standing national army.

Because they do nothing. Theres been cases of shootings with smaller sized magazines that were no less horrific or less deadly. Its a punishment for all due to the evil actions of a small percentage of the population. It would turn something that in most cases comes free with a firearm purchase into an illegal accessory. The media here has decided to label the 30rnd mag that comes standard with most semi auto rifles as an "extended magazine".

As far as buybacks, Im ALL for voluntary ones. They have them several times a year in Chicago, they even give $100 per gun. Most firearms opposers arent asking for voluntary buybacks they want them to be mandatory. Which is when it becomes laughable.
