Gun control is coming

2020 and take the Senate and the WH, and AR type weapons will be off the streets in a year.
That's what has to happen, and now is the time to do it.
As a matter of fact, when both Houses of Congress and the WH are Dem, fuck the 2nd Amendment, abolish it.
It's an archaic idea that has absolutely no place in modern American society.
It was alright once for humans to be owned and women were 2nd class citizens by this illustrious Constitution, and that proved to be wrong and was changed, why not get rid of that abomination, the 2nd?
It has absolutely no place in America in the 21st century

And almost none of us, (yes NONE), have military grade assault weapons. Look up the definition moron.

Abolish the second amendment and you'll ruin the country. There's a better way.
Yeah. You make a true but but banal and utterly useless point. The people who were shot, their family, their coworkers and their friends could hardly care less about the differences between a semi-automatic and an automatic rifle.

Changing the US constitution on that one would be too difficult and unpopular, ya need states too.

However much can be done!

Laws protecting gun manufactures, sellers and owners from lawsuits can be repealed.

Federal registration of fire arms, background checks, licensing and insurance requirements for owners, kinda like cars.

If the government can regulate the caliber of weapons and ban machine guns, it can make semi automatic weapons illegal too, in fact they could probably make repeating arms illegal too, as the founders envisioned, single shot muzzle loaders only. Let the conservative orientalists on the SCOTUS grapple with that one, they are big on the intentions of the founding fathers shit and the constitution being a dead document etc. Forget assault weapons, ban semi automatics of all kinds, pistols too, bet the SCOTUS goes along with it.

Limit magazine sizes.

Ban those on the no fly list, or those convicted of hate crimes or domestic violence from owning firearms.

Go after the NRA for funneling over $40 million to the Trump campaign through them, if the AG in New York don't take em down first.

Indict Wayne La Pierre for ripping off members and running a criminal scheme to defraud them.

Start compiling data on gun violence, evidence based policy requires data.

Laws prohibiting the mentally unstable from owning guns and be able to take the (a judge) guns of people based on their social media content and profile for a minimum period of time. Some counseling could save a lot of grief and the profiles of mass killers are well known.

TAX, TAX, TAX

This is a partial list of what might be done under the existing constitution to help mitigate the problem with a democratic hat trick in 2020 .

Taking a hard line on guns works, we have experience and data here in Canada to prove it, compare our homicide rate per capita to yours. Fuck em, Pot was illegal too and it never killed anybody, nobody ever got compensated for a trashed grow either, it was illegal, most guns should be and no compensation for them either, the cost has been high enough already.

Is what you list part of Canada's gun regulatory system?

Dunno, different system and there isn't a whole lot of public debate, nobody cares much because there are not too many problems. People are generally happy about the approach too, we can do things in the law that you can't and I figured I'd post some work arounds.

Many Americans feel hopeless about gun violence and think the 2nd amendment is absolute, not so, much can be done within the framework of the US constitution and with the blessing of the SCOTUS. The list I posted exemplifies what might be tried and I hope more add to it or remove the impractical. Saving Americans lives is not such a bad intention or goal, it's something a friend should try to do, "Put down the needle Sam, yer gonna killer yer self with that shit"!
