The people i might talk with more than once have seen i live in Buffalo NY. It got bad and i believe of the 48 deaths so far, 28 of them are from our neighborhoods. Days without electric, water pipes frozen and no water, looters, people without food(myself i don't drive and couldn't get much local due to panic shoppers and last ate Friday morning). I'm hoping that everyone stays safe and that even though we don't know each other, i am hoping and caring for those effected and my thoughts go out to everyone no matter what.

Man You guys got hammerd over there.. my thoughts and prayers to all of you..
It's tough. Things were so bad that Fire Trucks, Ambulance and Rescue teams could NOT be beployed for hours at a time. It doesn't help that people fell they'll DIE without holding their phone in their hands and goingto some hang out over satying inside for 3 to 4 days and watch some holliday movies or.... GASP..... read a book(Zoomers get a pass as they don't know what they are ), but most people were found in stranded cars or outside shoveling halfway through a storm . Just sad and extending my thoughts will hopefully help keep strong.

Here’s hoping there’s a window of opportunity to get some stuff like clearing major streets and getting power on for everyone before another one hits. Even a minor storm before then would add major woes.

I can see people outside on my street, but my landlord downstairs is close to 80 and neither of us are leaving home through this, so shoveling and whatever else people choose to do is on them, but some parts of the region are plowed and downgraded to travel advisory while others are not plowed and still under travel bans. My local Tops food market is closed today and tomorrow already, so food is definatley going to hurt people. I know some people got power back after days without it. Most people just didn't expect it. It's Buffalo. We get bad winters all the time. Myself i still think being in low gear from Covid had people not concerned with it and continue to get out and live. Definitely not something to remember this years country wide conditions.

No Facebook groups to help? Here there’s different groups like “I’m stuck, Fairbanks. Come pull me out.”

We had phone rosters back in my day, before there was an internet and Facebook, of people with 4x4s that could get around in the snow. We'd all volunteer to drive doctors and nurses to their hospital or office. I loved driving nurses around in the snow and free coffee. I have a Humvee now that's great in the weather but I don't drive anymore and my wife's scared to drive in the snow lol.
I hope you guys get back on track as soon as possible. My thoughts are with everyone that's grieving a loved one from this mess.

... It's crazy and you all are in my prayers. I'm in CNY and we almost have nothing while to the West it's nuts ...
Yeah ... the Western NY & the Niagara Peninsula areas can get pummeled during the winter. You can get significant snowfall from a storm - and with two of the Great Lakes on either side, lake effect snow of immense amounts if they have not frozen over.

Hopefully the City of Toronto/Province of Ontario will be able to send assistance.

New York is a unique hell filled with people not capable of helping themselves and selfishness.
That’s one thing about Alaska is people do step up. You never know when it’s your turn to need something. Nobody gets left stranded in vehicles. Your vehicle might be terminally stuck but you’ll get a lift to shelter or your car jumped or get pulled out of deep snow.

Its like that here too and every county has their own alert system. No one should be dying in their vehicles but I can see this happening when not prepared.
