PH Question

Hello & Happy Holidays,

I have a question regarding my PH. My plants are at about ~3 weeks from germination and I have them in FFOFsoil and peralite 70/30 in solo cups. My PH going in is at 6.3 but when I checked the run off its was at 7.6..
Should I continue to lower my PH going in until I get the run-off to 6.3-6.5?

Thanks for all the help!

FFOF is a good soil and really doesn't need any amendments, but for seedlings adding the peralte is a good thing. My advice is don't chase runoff. What's happening is normal, the soil has a buffering effect and the PH rises slightly as the water infiltrates through the soil, when the low(er) ph water hits the roots those nutrients/micronutrients absorbable in that ph range will be absorbed by the roots, as the soil raises the ph higher those nutrients/micronutrients absorbable at the higher ph range will be absorbed. (that's the quick and dirty explanation). Bottom line, as long as the plants look fine keep doing what you're doing. That said, if growing in coco/moss, then ph (and EC) in/out is important).

I wouldn’t. I would keep my ph at 6.3-6.5 & make sure to water til about 10-15% runoff comes out. 3 weeks in.. I’d also either consider introducing small doses of food, or a transplant into fresh soil. I’d go with the latter. Much easier, just continue to ph your water going in.

Thank you for the detailed response brotha! I will remember this moving forward! Have a great holiday!

FFOF is pre buffered - No ph adjusting needed.

Tap water. I run 7.2 straight in.

Imagine how good your cannabis would be if you adjusted the pH before watering! A dash of vinegar and you will be impressed by the difference in the end product. Give it a try and grow some killer !

Fox farm soil is pH'd fairly well, keeping the watering solution on point pH wise going in will keep it that way. It's easy and the results are WELL worth it!

I understand where your coming from but vitamin PH down is not helping anything in soil grows apart from adjusting a Nutrient Solution. Other than that 8.2 water in for me. Soil stays at 6.5.-7 and naturally with good compost and biodiversity
