Running costs or lights

544 watts, cool white, and dimmable, for just over 114. I'm sure I could keep finding better deals too, I just don't feel like looking hard enough.. lol
That equals 111 lumens/watt, hps has you beat at 150.
A fixture using the newest lm301b is around 220lm/w, So twice as efficient as your bulbs...
In laymans terms, Thats 50% less power needed for the same amount of light. Your utility bill will make you smile

‘’Can you post the price with the added 40 sockets, wiring and everything else you’d need to complete your build?
For us here the US, sure. I've scoured the net for the best possible deals, for years now. In the UK, I dunno. I didn't even know what VAT means, lol. I had to turn my browser to UK mode to find that stuff, because I knew I could find better deals, just like I always do ;)

And you are right. I need to put my money where my mouth is, and start a journal if I'm gonna talk it up like I am. I'm not gonna buy high end lights to compare with though, and i'm sure the LED light manufacturers aren't gonna send me ones for free to do side by side tests. They don't wanna anyone to see a screw in fixture perform as well as their flagship $600 light for a fraction of the cost. hahahaha

I dunno, I don't really care about LED efficiency all that much. Actual watts is all I really look for, and the total amount of kwh used for the entire setup.

I'm more interested in geothermal, and offsetting heating and cooling costs. That, and saving tons of cash so I can put my money towards keeping my grows a constant 50+ degrees all year long. EDIT: As in, only having to heat or cool a 50 degree room.

Scaling up with screw in bulbs can save boat loads of money, haha ;)
That's good, because screw-in LEDs are woefully inefficient compared to a proper grow light.

You may want to consider light output, rather than watts consumed, in your lighting decisions.

The only proper LED grow light they could possibly make, that would benefit me right now, would have a built in radiant heater.

The more efficient the LED, the higher my electric bills. I don't grow in the house either, and have to heat my trailers, and its frozen outside right now.

I have plenty of proper grow lights to test against. Otherwise I wouldn't have the balls and the bulbs to prove it.

More heat than HPS? lol

btw, the lumen rating on the screw in bulbs isn't right. Thats with the globe on. Its way more with the diodes exposed. WAY more.

That's the best I could find in the UK, only looking for 5 minutes too. They have shit for cheaper bulbs there. The cost for the more efficient ones is kinda ridiculous, i'll admit.

Don't try to use my attempts to find bulbs in an alien land make it seem like my ideas aren't good. lol! ;)

Ya I understand that is just equivalent wattage, and really means nothing. Do you understand how bright they become when you remove the globes? The diffuser globes really restrict the output.

I'll put a homemade screw in bulb fixture up against any commercial fixture on the market, wattage for wattage. I'll still pull the same weight, but probably more, because the way I grow.

I got 1000's of watts worth of brand new bulbs, like 4-5 different brands, and could make any size light I want.

Who wants to bet? :P

Major thread takeover.........what a surprise.
You guys do realize that the OP hasn't been seen since he made this thread with his first post.

Advice like what? The kind where you try to help someone?

You guys do realize it's only been one day, and some people have lives you know, unlike me. I'm gonna go mess around and build a 600-700 watt screw in grow light, with 50/50 daylight/warmwhite, and true 360nm IR evenly spaced across the fixture. Might even add a few blue tooth screw in speaker bulbs to play music for the plants. I'm also gonna make a grow journal of it for bk, because he is the only one that believes in me.

Haha later, have fun nerds. I'm outta here! <3
