Landrace

What are some of the best landrace strains you guy’s and gal’s have grown? I know they’re not all that popular anymore with all the new hybrids and stuff but I know a lot of the old growers have had their share of landrace.

I really like the African landraces. Ethiopian and Malawi are both good. In fact I have some Ethiopian going right now. Panama is good. I have some Guatemalan going right now. I've never grown it so I can't comment on it at this time. I have grown Tikal which a hybrid from ACE using Guatemalan and apparently Northern Lights. I can't remember exactly the genetics used but it was pretty good.

I've grown quite a few others as well. I still have a ton of stuff I haven't gotten to.

If you haven't already you might want to look through these threads. Most of those growing landraces post in those threads.

One of my favorite banks is Proseeds in the UK for their Haze and Landrace collections, I just picked up two packs of Mulanje Gold from them.

I'm not entirely sure how authentic all of these are. I know ACE is the real deal. Have a bunch from The Real Seed Company also and those are authentic as well.

I've grown the Congo, Ethiopian, PCK, Panama, Malawi, Columbian Gold, Killamanjaro, Ketama, Pakistan Valley, Afghan Kush, Purple Paro Valley, Ciskei, and a few from RSC. Highland Thai, Mazar I Sharif, Syrian, Sinai and the ACE Guatemala going now. I've reproduced seeds of them all as well as making dozens of different crosses. I'm keeping busy.

my friend ran Wos Afghan Kush and he told me it was not pure afghani.
The Hindu Kush region encompasses multiple countries. There's also lots of different strains from Afghanistan. Many of them quite different. I don't know what you're friend means by pure Afghani. How are they making that determination?

From the WOS description:

"This particular strain grows wild in the valleys of the Armu Darya River, which forms the border between Tajikistan and Ukbekistan."

How was the Columbian gold?
It was damn good weed but I can guarantee it's not the real deal. It's definitely been hybridized. It finishes too fast and the bud structure is wrong. I was smoking the real deal in the 70's and it's not anything like I remember.

They have it finishing in 10 weeks and that's about what it took from what I recall. Strains from the same region that ACE has are all 14 weeks or so which is how long a sativa should take at the minimum. It's definitely had some indica added to shorten the flowering time. That doesn't make it bad weed but if you're looking for a real deal sativa it's not the one.

That's awesome. You should post pics of each when you grow them, :bigjoint:
