Union members never used to be that fucking stupid, what has the GOP done for them, other them fuck them? Same for Midwest farmers I suppose Trump fucked them with his China tariffs and they are eager for another screwing, Joe and the allies supporting Ukraine in the war drove food prices up and is saving their asses after they lost their markets. They aren't the only one's voting against their own interests, anybody who votes for a republican does, character counts and they have none. This is a case where guilt by association matters, its politics, not law.

In the past people attended union meetings and meetings of lots of other popular fraternal organizations that have since died or are reduced in scale these days. The members used to get a lot of the political information and POV from union leaders, many who leaned left and spoke at meetings. Also, many unions members had kids who went on to university, they were smart enough, but never had the opportunity or even exposure to higher education. Union members today are dumber than they were in the past and getting spoon-fed bullshit by foxnews, hate radio, rightwing websites and social media that directs them to it, they also don't attend meetings much. That might change though as university becomes more expensive and the ranks of the poor and unions refill with the talented and intelligent.

It feels like they are part of the recent political polarity switch they resulted from Republicans utilizing the culture wars. Union workers are a perfect example of a large portion of the new Republicans - people who vote against their own interests as long as they also perceive that they are hurting a group that they hate.

you know what? i'm alright with that...mutations happen in nature fairly often, and the successful ones grow, and breed, and produce better offspring, who out compete the original.
this is just evolution in progress...an organism that doesn't act in it's own best interests is doomed, best to just let it die, and contain the damage it does while trashing about.

Just posted this has become age of assassination with Russian and Iranian deaths of importance close to president. The head of The Snake needed to be dealt with long ago..I mean don't we have friends left? If we fall? Militias are illegal in all 50 states yet everywhere. I certainly hope DOJ has a plan for 2024.

Why I could care less they vaxxed t's going to take a generation 20 years for it to be gone- one day a few of us, very old, will remember and we'll discuss.

I do imagine J6 will be their new battle spoken with bits of paraphernalia from those in attendance going to the highest bidders.

It is interesting to think about how they got there though. I grew up around a bunch of union activist people. Pretty salty now that I spent Saturdays on picket lines as a kid for for folks that hate me now, but oh well.

I do think nafta was a big deal and a driver of splitting union members away from the dems. That was a major thing for a couple of years. As DIY mentioned, they got their info from union leaders...and that info was that nafta was the worst thing in the world and they were gonna take yer jerbs. It went through and while union leadership might have been able to move on, I don't think the members did.

Maybe it started earlier, but that is when I noticed it. It was an opening for what we see now to really take hold. Think it's also related to why Clinton (as a name really) is such an effective bad guy/boogieman with some groups.

In other words:
We, as the dems, kissed some chick at party so our union girlfriend broke up with us. That crazy bitch then got strung out and is a now a truck stop stripper. Her mom thinks she should have forgiven us, we had a bright future together.

Edit: this is relevant because union members use hammers.
