A quick update on the garden. I’m planning a weekend away, so I added 8 classic BluMat watering carrots. Photos below. Over the course of one day, these carrots delivered almost 3 quarts of water to the plants. I’m seeing an average of 375 ml per carrot per day, which exceeds the advertised flow of 125ml/day.

The largest plant, Blue Dream, is almost twice the size compared to flip. Up to 28.5 inches tall compared to 15 inches at flip.

I’m still adjusting the GH Flora Series quantities. Needed a little more nitrogen to fuel growth phase in transition and early bloom. See below for application rates this week. (Early bloom column)

Nice! Blumats rock! Your plants are gonna love you for installing those! ❤
Thanks!
So far, it’s going well. I found one BluMat that went “dry”, so I’m going to have to check the rest one more time to insure they’re all working. I should have installed the Tropf Blumat drippers instead of the Classic BluMat Carrots. For anyone considering the two, do more research on the drippers. Reasons to buy the Dripper instead:
-I believe they can deliver more water per carrot,
-They can be placed further away from the reservoir
-One can visibly see that they are working

the only downsides to the Dripper version that I see is that it:
-requires more time assembling tubing
-requires the reservoir to be 3 feet above ground

Welcome back! Timbers still rocking I see. :hump:8-)
Thank you LCPGrower. Yes, I took a long smoke and longer grow break! It’s good to be back.

I moved down from a 5x5 with three Timber 3vl fixtures to a 2x4 tent with one 3vl fixture. So it looks like I’ll be rocking Timber 3vl fixtures until I die. I’m still a fan of this COB lighting….seems to work for me.

Are you still using the blumats?

No, I didn’t do too well with setting them up. I still own them, but I hope I won’t have to use them again. I’m sure it was user error since a lot of people have success with BluMats.

Were you trying to run nutrients threw them?

The 2x4 tent looks great, had to look twice to believe that was all the bigger it is.

Thanks! This is my first SCROG and I’m loving it.

It’s been a while, so I don’t remember the setup process and where I fell short on the Blumats. I believe I was trying to run a mix of tap and RO water with CalMag added for the RO water. Definitely didn’t add any nutrients….i learned that lesson the hard way with another automatic feeder.

If I recall correctly, I could have done better with more carrots per plant. I should have purchased the version that drips too. Sorry I’m not much help.

No worries. I like the idea of the carrots but not being able to do additives if needed when running soil would be a downside. I presume if you water or feed when you are using them only for water the extra liquid could screw up the blumats process of drawing water when needed. I guess this is why we see people using them that do the big living soil bed grows have the most success.

AC Infinity has some self-feeding bases for fabric pots that intrigue me…..been out of stock for a while, but getting good reviews. I will probably pick up two for the next time I need to arrange for automatic water. I wouldn’t run any nutes thru these either as they rely on wicks.

Yeah I looked at those awhile back. Seems like people are still trying to reinvent the wheel. Have you ever used the beds/pots where there is the reservoir in the base and there is the fill tube either in the bed or outside the bed? Think they are designed for growing tomatoes outside on the deck. I don't recall what folks here call them.

I’m not familiar with those pots, but it sounds interesting.

Autopots are what you are talking about I believe.

Nice.

I actually went the other direction and moved up from a 3x3 to a 4x4 as my old Vivosun 3x3 that I had retrofitted with Orca tore on me when I tried to put it back up and apparently Orca is impossible to get anymore (and even if by a stroke of luck you do manage to find a roll, it’s ridiculously overpriced/expensive).

So, unfortunately I was kind of limited in my choices for White, matte lined grow tents and wound up going with a 4x4 Bud Box.

However, this left my 4VS underpowered and apparently Timber has not only since changed their name to Highgrove but have also completely eliminated the COB and Bar Style (Cypress) lights due to difficulty in sourcing the materials to build them. So…Unfortunately I’m probably gonna have to go in a different direction in the future and pick up a Bar Style light from a different manufacturer (looking at Mars Hydro’s line of Bar Style Lights).

I mean, if budget wasn’t an issue I’d build out a full 10x10 room in the garage, buy a Sun On Demand plasma light, and paint the walls with the new experimental paint that was created by researchers at Purdue University which reflects 98% of the Sun’s radiation (including UV and IR). But I’m still waiting to hit the Powerball jackpot to make that happen.

Thanks Mumbeltypeg. I’m not too familiar with strains, so I tend to stick with those few that I am familiar with. I’m going to step out of my comfort zone with my next grow and try a strain called “Purple Ghost Candy” and a Godfather OG….neither of which I am familiar with except for the online summaries.

LCP, Congrats on the new 4x4! If I had more space, that’s the size I’d like to have too. I had to research orca film and I didn’t think anything reflected UV, so thanks for the info. If I do ever decide to build that dedicated grow room, I’m going to pick your brain.

Im completely out of touch on LEDs, so not sure what I’d do for a 4x4. All the ones I like are over a grand….not that I’m in the market. I believe that both companies I considered buying from last time are out of business too. (Timber and Nextlight), so I may not be a good judge of brands.

Oh, and good luck on your Powerball jackpot! I’d enjoy watching you build the ultimate grow room.
