First grow…. Is it time to cut and hang

Hey friends… newbie here looking for input.
This is a grow that came from a bag seed I started nonchalantly. I watered with distilled all along but have learned a bit here and there along the way and still have a lot to learn. It’s been fun.

This said she has been through hell transitioning from outdoor to indoor due to a landscaping issue with a neighbor that destroyed privacy.

My question… can I let this run another 1-2 weeks before harvesting? Or is it time. I want to have a good cerebral high/with a splash of the stereotypical couch lock. I medicate to relax but also am a parent and a husband so don’t need to be zombie’d out with the munchies for hours.

Please let me know if any other pics or info is needed. Thanks for the help in advance.

Looks mid flower to me.. 4 weeks or more to go.
Feed that thing and keep her going
thanks for the feedback brother. Mind to peak at my subsequent reply with trich pics just to confirm Your assumption?

Can I also ask ya one more question?

I agree, at least 3 weeks anyway!
I appreciate it man.
Quick question. On some of the lower buds some necrosis is creeping up small sets of fan leaves and it’s about to run into the buds as the swell. Would it be best to go ahead and cut those leaves or just wait for them to die/fall off.

My PH meter broke in early flowering and the poor girl sort of cannibalized herself for a couple week before I got things stabilized.
Any other advice to keep her happy as possible the next three weeks is greatly valued.
Thanks again.

It is quite common for a plant to start cannibalizing lower leaves from a few weeks from flipping on. In a week or so you can cut back on nutrients [1/2 strength] until she is finished. There is no need for flushing, Good luck!!!

You the man!
Will post update in 2-3 weeks to make sure I’m on track. Take care.

The first thing I looked at was your pistols, which are white and straight at the moment. Like others have said, until those start to turn brown and curl in (more than 50% of them) your not there yet. After the pistols start to turn brown and curl in, you can start watching the Tricomes with a Loupe. Watching the pistols is a good way to know if your almost there yet, (gets you in the ball park) Watching tricomes gives you more information.

Watching the tricomes is the part that allows you as a grower to choose the type of effect the weed will have. Early harvests (clear and cloudy) will have a more awake and energetic effect, but potency will be a little lower. All cloudy is a good in between, and will be potent and energetic. If you let it go a bit longer to cloudy and amber, the effect will lean towards the couch lock (and sleepy) side. It's all up to you!

If it was my first grow, I'd wait for 20 percent or amber and mainly cloudy. (Side note: dont count the tricomes on your sugar leaves, they are misleading, watch the flower tricomes only....)

They look good, a few weeks away, but good. Trichs aren't the only sign to look for. The plant overall will tell you when she's done (receded brown/red/orange pistils, leaves yellowing/browning and dying off).

Different plants will have their own unique way of finishing up. You kinda get used to it and you'll be able to read plants better in this respect with experience.

Your plant still has fresh looking white pistils, and clearly hasn't put on her final bud mass. The final weight gain happens roughly in the last 2-3 weeks of flowering. You'll know, because you'll think "holy crap these look good" then they'll put on that final weight and you'll sh*t your pants they look even so much better.

thanks for the reply, sir. I can say that since posting this I’ve seen quite the swelling of the calyxes near the tops of the buds. This seems to coincide more or less with the darkening pistils turning a reddish color and sort of shrinking… my guess is this is the receding ppl talk about? To me it more appears to calyxes eating the hairs.

additionally on some of the smaller branches I can see them start to flex just a bit under the weight of the buds. Exciting stuff

Every couple days I’ll notice they look substantially better and the progress I’m describing above which is taking place on the top half of the buds is spreading below.

The plane has undergone a lot of stress due to my lack of experience/well intentioned advice from a friend that was off base; but I’ve learned a ton. Got some Gorilla Glue, Skywalker OG And Cheese in route for next few cycles.
Thanks for taking the time to help.

@Nope_49595933949 don’t wanna stir anything up but I’ve heard the above advice before and curious the misguiding info ppl are concerned with regarding these insights.

Just curious to learn. They are each growers individual plants and we run them how they best meet our needs so I’m more of a “more than one way to skin a cat” mindset. But again, looking to learn from more perspectives.
Can you explain more?

@singlecoiled thanks for the time you spent replying man!

Here are some updates…. Watching trichs not because it’s time; but to see how they evolve over the last few weeks of the grow cycle.

thoughts… I’m thinking at least 2 more weeks. Assuming overall health sustains and necrosis of smaller fan leaves doesn’t risk bud rot. Keeping humidity in high 30’s to low 40’s to hopefully keep this at bay. Thoughts

Definitely preparing the toilet paper and change of undies for that “shit your pant phase” you referenced. Most of the pistils are fading and I have to say I HAVE NEVER seen calyx’s this large. It’s crazy to think how much they shrink as they dry.
Any way to keep them as fluffy as possible as they dry?

Ok, as I step into Narnia each evening (morning for her) the aroma is noticeably more pungent. Additionally, it seems we are going an extra day, maybe two between watering (also have seen I’ve need to reduce to 1gallon per watering vs 1.5 throughout most of flowering.
It appears the buds near bottom of the plant are showing the same color expressions as the more mature buds showed 1.5 weeks or so ago as well.
Trichomes seem to be progressing nicely.

Feeling like I’m gonna chop her on wed or Thursday of this coming week. But wanted to see if I could gather one last round of feedback before making the determination.

FYI - I’m looking for a balanced high, that maybe leans slightly more day-time/cerebral/increased creativity etc
