Cloning Supplies Recommendations!

Hi fellow cannabis enthusiasts! A newbie home grower here. I was recently gifted a few mothers and was thinking of trying my luck on starting some clones for the first time. I've been seeing a lot of variation for cloning in terms of substrates/ supplies growers are using. Can anyone give me a quick run down on differences and benefits of choosing one method over the other? I was thinking of going with some sort of substrate like rockwool or root riot cubes, but am also curious to hear about hydro or aeroponic systems like an EZ Cloner. Open to any and all recommendations!

Honestly, a glass of water in a northern facing window has been my best results.

Rock wool, root riot, coco and jiffy plugs all work well it's more a case of what method suits you, i like a simple pot of coco over everything but i still use a bubble cloner, root pouches and a jug of water if it's a clone or two, just whatever is convenient at the time.

All of the above are hydro methods, that isn't a problem if you putting them into soil, presumably you're growing in soil?

Jiffy plugs, some sort of dome, a heat mat and a small fluorescent light have always worked well for me.

There’s a lot of ways to clone, just need to find what works the best for you.

Thank you for this recommendation! Do you find cloning in an EZ cloner to be more reliable in terms of rooting success compared to other standard methods of rooting in plugs/water/soil? I also have been seeing a lot of discussion in terms of nute additions and being careful around pH/EC. At my current stage of cloning knowledge, these considerations seem to be a bit over my head, so do you think it best to start with something other than an EZ cloner? Or should I be wary about these considerations for cloning in plugs or other substrates too?

Thanks for these recs! Yes, the goal will be to transplant into soil. Do you have sense of benefits over one type of plug over the other? I seem to be leaning towards a peat cube or coco over rockwool, but curious to hear everyone's thoughts!

Rock wool would be my last choice not because of anything other than the maintenance, i like a pot of coco because after i wet it i don't need to concern myself with it for a week+ with jiffy, rw or root riot requires me to wet them every couple of days or so.

The bubble cloner is also great because it's maintenence free nature but it's not always convenient to use it, it depends on space available and how many I'm taking

Multiple ways, also depends on how you plan to clone/mother... if you want to keep one mother plant to cut multiple clones off of to run the clones than you likely want to root as fast as possible and get those suckers going, probably the clone plugs and humidity Dome ect.

If you want to take a cut off of each plant you have to save a backup before you flip your "mother" plant, than you likely don't want to have a shit ton of quickly rooted clones you need to keep uppotting. In that case rooting clones in a cup of water may be the way to go, the clones will do just fine for a few weeks while they slowly develop roots, this way you can save yourself some space and buy time of fucking with your clones trying to get them to root as fast as possible.

No dome, no 45 degree cut and no rooting gel/powder, no the healthiest lol just a damp pot of coco and a clipping pushed into it, a healthy plant to clone from makes a big difference.

Just left in the shadow of another plant 0 care.

Ideally a cloner would be best if you can accommodate one if you can't it's easy to make a smaller one.

These i also really like, they hold a decent amount of medium and they don't take up much space + i can just empty water into their tray.

You absolutely don't need anything fancy but it's nice to have a good cloner.

Bubble stones or pump to agitate the water both work.

You can use any light but it needs to be dim, i personally prefer T5s overall for seeds and clones.
