Does It Matter What (If Anything) Trump Declassified?

No criminal charges have yet been filed against Trump or anyone else in relation to the Mar-a-Lago files. But if and when that happens, Trump’s declassification defense is unlikely to solve his or his associates’ legal problems. While Trump could have declassified whatever he liked while president, his apparent inability to produce any credible evidence that he actually did so is a genuine problem—particularly against the backdrop of an incumbent president who clearly sees the documents as still classified. More importantly, none of the criminal provisions listed in the search warrant hinge on whether the documents recovered at Mar-a-Lago are classified or not, making declassification he might have pursued irrelevant.

In basic cheap Master Sergeant Ragland used to ask new recruits, so you want to be a hero you f****** squirrel. The recruit would say sir yes sir. He would reply you're a f****** idiot.
And Giuliani almost got a medal.

But at least it makes it much more ironic and funny that they are classified.

The Evidence Against Donald Trump Keeps Mounting, Even as He Plays the Victim
30,441 views Aug 21, 2022 The former president is now considering calling for a "Special Master" to review the evidence seized by the FBI during the Mar-a-Lago search. But is this just another ploy to try and change the narrative? Charles Coleman and Jill Wine-Banks break it all down.

Interesting roundtable:

AND another long-ass chunk of comment. Sorry, y’all

Muster the support of the old-line ‘classic conservative’ Republican Party for what?

To vote against Trump *and* those he’s endorsed at every level - and to VOTE FOR the removal of his judicial and agency appointees (yes, SCOTUS, too) - AND to vote for the legislative steps necessary to make repeat attempts illegal and (as much as possible) impossible. We’ve learned that reliance on the norms and standards of 250 years ago can’t be enough, we’ve learned that treason has other meanings besides a foreign-sourced war against the US.

Evidence is accumulating that Trump may well be guilty under the existing statutory definition (depending on the collated output of the various investigations, particularly with regard to the Russia connection); whether or not a clear chain of connection between TrumpCo & Putinia can be established, we now know that there’s real weakness in the idea that the calls *CAN’T* come from “inside the house”. Simply, if we can’t fix this (and other similar) then all that’s required for the US to fall *to an identical effort* is to eliminate the offshore component.

The reason for singling out war is that war by its nature is an existential threat to the survival/continuance of any nation; Trump & MAGA, the ‘overthrow party’, the white rebellion that kicked off in 1956 following the Brown v BoE decision, ALL have sought to become existential threats to the governance, the operations , the proper continuity of the US government whit the intent of forcing onto the people conditions they would never certify by election. Which puts these successive waves of ‘resurgent Confederate sympathies’ directly in opposition to the principles of self-government US-style, accountability of judges and representatives and corporations to the citizens through their representatives, and the illusion of freedom.

In what way is this - any of this - NOT the functional equivalent to war? ESPECIALLY when people reach office who value control of the mob to the voice of the citizens?

The functional equivalent to war deserves the function equivalent in punishment. It IS the most serious sort of crime against the nation: seeking to destroy it and replace it with a different foundation and structure, or to corrupt the existing laws and structure and foundations to the point where “America” becomes just a job of branding, replacing principles with slogans like “We the People“ and “America First!” and symbols like eagles and flags while rolling right over the actual framework of the nation.

There can be no excuses for such a thing: no mitigating circumstances, no “honest mistakes”, no “originalist” workover of the constitution, no ‘alternate interpretations‘ clear text and plain facts.

NO forgiveness. Either we take this shit seriously or we’re done - as a people, as a nation, as a functional society.

Play it at his sentencing hearing for the documents, if he is convicted of these crimes alone he gets out in a bag. There are harsh sentencing guidelines and plenty of people serving serious time for doing far less than Donald did concerning secret documents. He might go from custody in Georgia to a federal prison when they are done with his ass there.

I wonder how many places in the south will change their names to Trumpville? I would suggest it so they would have the asshole around their necks for even longer. Fuck I'd even go for branding them using a hot iron with a swastika on the forehead!

Maybe a better approach would be talk them into having TRUMP tattooed on their foreheads while getting them to pay for it. Donald can offer an official Trump tattoo and contract out booths at his rallies to tattoo artists, Donald shears his sheep, but could do better! They pay for his flags and bumper stickers to display their stupidity, so a forehead tattoo is not a reach, they can even choose different designs, with or without a swastika or the ever popular stars and bars.
If the Play-Doh ex-prez escalates, or even keeps it up much longer, he’ll be skinning them, not shaving.

The amazing thing is the enthusiasm with which the sheep insist on impoverishing themselves for the comfort and convenience of the wolves…”NONE so blind as those who *will not* see”

It’s that LouisXIV thing again: if he even *thinks* it, it ought to be a law.

Hand-waving can’t declassify *anything*: you can’t even register your puppy without paperwork; hand-waving won’t get you a supermodel fucktoy without negotiations, agreements, payments, either.

It *does* distract the slow, however.

Use them like toilet paper while he still can, take as much cash as he can get from the suckers, then get them to die for him on the courthouse steps in Atlanta, in a J6 style riot during his TV trial inside. Will they indict him before or after the election? Once indicted a judge owns his ass and will muzzle him or he goes to jail until trial. You want Mitch wrestling with the pig in the mud for a spell longer, before ya pull the rug out from under Donald. Ya don't wanna give Mitch any time to put lipstick on the pig before the election.

I put it again, China has no blooded generals or soldiers... ( it means people who have seen actual combat, not pretend fights in training).
America has almost too many!
Means nothing. You have to get your troops to China to fight them.

Lol, good luck with that.

Trump starts nearly every outburst with "People say" or People tell me"....
His personal gangster style: “I know people, and they tell me they’re not happy with you, they don’t like that thing you did. In fact, they’re really mad at you, they might hurt you - I think, in the interests of lowering the temperature, you ought to make a conciliatory gesture by just…letting that stuff go. Nice and clear…make it public, too - make sure everyone knows….”
