RSO QUESTION (S)
68 yr old male, retired navy vet, good health, except for a little diabetes and Glaucoma
I know rso should be indica strain high THC and it will most likely make you rest or sleep for the most part
I NEED to be functional on a daily basis and am thinking though I should be on a maintenance does of RSO
Therefore, need some input, can I use a HIGH THC say 20% Sativa strain and get the same results as a Indica strain so I go about my day
Appreciate any input

A good place to start for making your own:

Dosage:

The emilykyle position on using ISO as a solvent is outdated. It is safe when you purge ISO below human sensory abilities.

First, the website in the first reply is the best I've found for good info. I didn't see any guesswork there. They are solid.

Second, I'm working on diabetes now for my daughter and son in law. Seedsman has a strain called Diet Durbin THCV:THC. It's 1:1. About 7% each plus 2% CBD. That's all I know about that, but with that much THCV it should be good for diabetes.

For energy I like Chocolope. It's like a morning cup of coffee that keeps you going all day. That might be a bit much to say about it. But, you may not sleep if you use if in the evening.

RSO needs to be indica if rest is required for healing.
Sativa RSO is great for daytime. Hybrid is Nice too.
One gals that grows here had lung cancer. I made RSO for her from indica like you would expect but she kept complaining about depression and a perpetual anger. It turned out it was affecting her PTSD. We changed her to sativa, Amnesia Haze, the happy weed. Everything got better.

Also, graywolf site. Top class information.

For a reasonable cost, aceseeds as a good Ethiopian with THCV, mild thc level, the CBD #1 and erdpurt are good for pains.

Have you tried the RSO v2.o?
I have accumulated all the equipment so i have 4-6 oz i will try. I bought a cheap fondue set with manual dial for the temperature. Interesting that you can decarb at the beginning or end ( small co2 bubbles ).

I did a green dragon tincture and it turned out good. Solid info from graywolf and cannabishomescience.

Maybe try running different techniques before giving advice on whats best? Been making oil for almost 9 years now and tried a bunch of different things. I ended up back at ethanol with a Source Turbo and a buchner funnel. It works, it's safe, and I recover my solvent. I honestly am not trying to be an ass even though it will come off that way and I'm sorry for that. Just being honest and in my old age, my filters are worn.

Decarbing at the end removes any doubts about how good the job went. The way I made my last couple batchs was make bubble hash, cover it with EC, and vacuum filter through "C-lite 545". Highly recommended: use a hand pump, NOT a lab pump. That's the kind of thing that causes bad things with fumes, even with EC.
Next I distill the tinture to a syrup. This is where the drying and decarbing happen. I made a small vacuum chamber from a 1/2 pint mason jar with a hose barb through the lid. I run a high vacuum, about 25hg or more. Sometimes a little heat but not much. First you'll get bubbles, then maybe larger water bubbles. Now comes what you've been waiting for, the little bubbles. Once the the CO2 is gone, if you were able to do it without heat it will look like a solid sponge until it warms up. You

The main advantage is the low temperatures. The bubble hash is cold, EC can be cold, vacumm distilling head temp is about 95C, and drying is low temperature. It saves the turpenes and doesn't degrade the cannabinoids.
The oil comes out honey clear. This sounds like a lot of work but it's worth it.

You don't need a still or lab pump to do this or other fancy stuff. It just makes the job easier.

Honesty and facts are fine with me. I looked at the sourceturbo, it is the gold standard but ethanol is very expensive in ontario. Sourceturbo is built solid, the price tag is a drawback for me as a hobbyist.
If you were referring to me giving advise, i only suggested places to obtain qualified knowledge on the topics of RSO. I am not in the position to give comments on processing as i have just begun the journey of tinctures. I leave that to users like you. We are all learning and sharing.

Extractcrafter has some really good articles.

Hit the links that @Fadedawg posted. I haven't been through the whole thing yet but it looks it's text book perfect.
