veg all winter/ bring plants outside with supplemental lighting in spring (northern hemisphere)

well i always told myself when its legal I'm gonna grow the biggest plant I can. So it's a celebration of my states liberation(NY). Other than that aesthetics is just as important to me if not more so than final yield. I have two plant one is 104 days and the other is 74 days. I have been sticking to my plan. They are getting big AF. Its been manageable but the next 8 weeks will surely involve some serious trimming. In another 4-5 weeks they will need another transplant. Than only another 4-5 weeks for the ground . I bought a green pop up green house for them to help with the acclimation and to get em in the ground quicker.

For those following along in NYS...it's not legal to home grow (recreationally) yet. Probably late 2023 at the earliest.

18 months after retail is allowed the growing component of the law takes effect. Retail hasn't been codified or licensed and is expected to be a good while before that happens.

You need to apply and receive a license to do a med grow.

That said, anyone growing outdoors should be careful of large plants that can be seen by the public and possibly poached.

There are no licenses being given out at the moment. So nothing to apply for. I have paid 150$ for a medical card every year for the last 3 years waiting for this. 100% agree "anyone growing outdoors should be careful of large plants that can be seen by the public and possibly poached."

These plants were all clones taken in Jan-Feb and put out in Mar-Apr into 400gl-600gl pots under supplemental lighting until June.

I just turned the artificial light off on the summer solstice.
Lets see if this works.

It has been 13 days since they lost their artificial light and the natural light started to decrease The stacking of the hairs and nodes has increased. It might just be a growth spurt and thier maturity showing. In a few more days I will know for sure. Whether or not they do the dance (flower/veg/flower) is a differnt story. What' yall think?

Plants in 1 gallon pots held at the low end of the veg cycle, 16 hours of light started in November. Trim& train
Transplant into 7 gallon pots end of January.Trim& train
April transplant mature plants into the ground with supplemental lighting to achieve the same amount of light it was getting indoors. Acclimate with shade cloth for two weeks,Trim,train,Stake
Summer solstice remove supplemental lighting. last trim and add additional stakes.
Sit under tree and smoke pipe?

If u have the room for it . Plus ur medium, environment, planning and training will play a large role in ur growth rate .

Why would they go into flower-veg-flower?

Triggered from the loss of light but not close enough to 12 hours. The same reason that happens if you bring them out in march or early april

That’s not how it works.

Once the light reduces to a certain level they will flower. They don’t bounce back and forth unless the light duration goes up and down as well.

I don’t think they’re flowering just yet probably just adjusting to you taking away the extra light and doing some rapid growth but if the current light cycle in your area isn’t under 13 hours I wouldn’t say they’re flowering

It's hard to tell anything from a photo 10 feet away. From what I've experienced with outdoor plants is that they aren't going to start flowering unless they have less than 13.5 hrs or so of light. NY is currently at around 15 hrs of daylight. Unless you've been covering them completely from light for hours I don't think they are flowering.

The pictures I posted this morning of the pistols is about 1 foot away.
Extremely mature plants vegged at the lower end of light (17 hours) for 200+ days.
Artificial light removed coupled with natural light decreasing daily. Averaged at 14 hours.
Bloom boosters applied (3-10-25)

Artificial light removed coupled with natural light decreasing daily. Averaged at 14 hours.
Bloom boosters applied (3-10-25)

Plants don’t flower because of decreasing light. They flower when they have a certain amount of uninterrupted darkness.

Looks like those are just preflowers. NY has over 14 hrs of total daylight right now. There is no average, there’s a total and it decreases by a minute or two after Summer Solstice.
