i would say to plant the rest of your seeds, and if you even get one female, wait about 3-4 weeks, and clone the everloving shit out of her.

Cloning is the one 100% for sure way to get a female plant every time man. Even with Feminized seeds you run the risk of getting a hermaphrodite. Its a crap shoot man, lol. But, with the feminized seeds its about 98% chance of getting a female every time, so thats really your best bet if you dont wanna fuck around with cloning right now.

OO also, lol -- i forgot about this - if you take some bannana peels, and chop them up, n throw them into a sammich baggie, and put your seeds in a paper towel loosely so they dont fall out, and leave them sit for 1-4 weeks, changing out the nanner peels every week, youll increase your chances of getting a female. There is a chemical in the bananna peels that gasses off when it decomposes, and if absorbed by the seeds, it increases the chances of the seeds having female chromosomes. So until you can swing for feminized, or learn how to clone, THATS actually your best (and only) bet to increase your chances of getting females out of your remaining seeds.

good luck with the rest of your seeds man.

If you already planted your seeds you can also put a banana around the stem of your plant in the soil and it will give off the gases while it decomposes that will influence the plant to be female. This is because the first 3 weeks that a plant is growing it can be influenced to be either male or female, but after that it is set. I would try the banana peel in the bag and this and it should work (change banana every week too for the first 3 weeks). Most people have 100% success with this. Some people have reported going about 60 out of 60 female using this. Good luck

Put the banana in the pot with the planted seed or put it in the same area as the plants?

If you already planted the seeds then wait until they sprout and just put a banana around the stem or you can cut it up and put it around the stem it doesnt matter (in the soil). Change the banana every week for three weeks then when the three weeks is up you don't have to put another banana because the sex is already determined by then.

do you wet the paper towel or do you just leave it in the dry paper towel in the sandwich bag?

WTF is the banana method? Never heard of that one, sounds like BS to me, anyone that can point me to some scientific evidence that it works?

Are you referring to ethylene gas? Bananas do give off that and it does alot of things, but making plants female is not one of them.

"
Physiological responses of plants

Like the other plant hormones, ethylene is considered to have pleiotropic effects. This essentially means that it is thought that at least some of the effects of the hormone are unrelated. What is actually caused by the gas may depend on the tissue affected as well as environmental conditions. In the evolution of plants, ethylene would simply be a message that was coopted for unrelated uses by plants during different periods of the evolutionary development.

List of plant responses to ethylene

  • Seedling triple response, thickening and shortening of hypocotyl with pronounced apical hook. This is thought to be a seedling's reaction to an obstacle in the soil such a stone, allowing it to push past the obstruction.
  • In pollination, when the pollen reaches the stigma, the precursor of the ethylene, ACC, is secreted to the petal, the ACC releases ethylene with ACC oxidase.
  • Stimulates leaf and flower senescence
  • Stimulates senescence of mature xylem cells in preparation for plant use
  • Inhibits shoot growth except in some habitually flooded plants like rice
  • Induces leaf abscission
  • Induces seed germination
  • Induces root hair growth – increasing the efficiency of water and mineral absorption
  • Induces the growth of adventitious roots during flooding
  • Stimulates epinasty – leaf petiole grows out, leaf hangs down and curls into itself
  • Stimulates fruit ripening
  • Induces a climacteric rise in respiration in some fruit which causes a release of additional ethylene. This can be the one bad apple in a barrel spoiling the rest phenomenon.
  • Affects neighboring individuals
  • Disease/wounding resistance
  • Inhibits stem growth outside of seedling stage
  • Stimulates stem and cell broadening and lateral branch growth also outside of seedling stage
  • Synthesis is stimulated by auxin and maybe cytokinin as well
  • Ethylene levels are decreased by light
  • The flooding of roots stimulates the production of ACC which travels through the xylem to the stem and leaves where it is converted to the gas
  • Interference with auxin transport (with high auxin concentrations)
  • Inhibits stomatal closing except in some water plants or habitually flooded ones such as some rice varieties, where the opposite occurs (conserving CO2 and O2)
  • Where ethylene induces stomatal closing, it also induces stem elongation
  • Induces flowering in pineapples"

Nothing in there about making plants female.

so do you have a way to make females????

there is no way to produce all females without using femenized seeds. I usually get a 50/50 ratio, every once in a while you'll have some shitty luck, just pop a bit more seeds next time.

they just told you, when you get a female just keep her vegging and take cuttings and cloner her, guranteed females

I know the banana method sounds ridiculous, I was skepticle at first but it has worked in 10 outta 10 seeds for me and other people swear by it with even better 100% results. I can't see any scientific evidence in it either (it is the ethylene gas) but there has to be something that is being overlooked with these kind of results, or maybe it's one huge ass coincedince (sp?)

A plant's gender is determined by the sex chromosome carried in the male pollen. There is no way of getting around this without creating a hermaphrodite. 10 plants is a small test group and you probably just got really lucky, it happens.

I have heard of that banana method. the chemical given off by decomposing banana peels is called ethylene. check out wikipedia. I don't know if there is enough ethylene given off by banana peels to cause a seed or a seedling to change sex, but it's worth investigating. commercial pineapple growers use bananas to induce flowering

the amount of gas produced by 1 bannana must be tiny and with your fans etc going its not gonna have chance to be taken up by the plant in anyway .

I just really need one female so that i can clone her....im hearing high nitrogen makes it turn female is that true??? cause once i figure out which way to go, i will turn this into an experimental thread trying the best ones and posting the results....i have a 250w and a 400w bulb cfl lighting and a grow space.....the seeds i have left are thia sticks and hindu kush.....i was growing orange bud but got D*CKS nothing but D*CKS!!!!

NOTHING makes a plant turn female, It is predetermined from seed. If you plant 1000 seeds and they all are male, well its just a bad coincidence. The more seeds you plant the better the chances you will get a female.

Once again, no matter what you do to a plant you cannot change its sex.
