Fruit flies? Got something rotting or your recycling cans/bottles, dirty garbage can?

Thanks for chiming in pro! They seem to big to be fruitflies. Mind you, they are still much much much smaller than traditional houseflies. But I always had it in my head that fruitflies were almost tiny
indistinguishable little brown dots. These are like little black muthafukkas.

Phorid fly? my guess. Same. Garbage, drains. Something just outside your door/windows.

I sometimes have trouble differentiating between fruit flies and fungus gnats. I believe fruit flies move faster than gnats and are a little larger. If they are slow enough for you to regularly smash them with your hand, probably gnats...

It's so hard to tell. They're all just little fucking flying bugs to me. I set up some sticky traps and apple cider vinegar traps. The ACV traps have caught very few. The sticky traps are doing ok. The seem to like the guinea pig cage. And just to randomly fly around the kitchen and bathroom..

I unfortunately had fungus gnats in the grow room once upon a time. These arent them. More of a fly looking thing than a mosquito looking thing. I still want to talk trannies again with you at some point though.

hmm, the striping on the abdomen and the red eyes could look like a possible match to the Phorid fly.

Edit: although looks like the fruit fly also has striping and red eyes.
Maybe email a pic to your county's agricultural extension office
