Has any body been growing cmh lights for 5+ years and have eye damage?

Any glasses that block UV will work. I've been trying to find some grow room glasses that will fit over my prescription reading glasses and won't need a 2nd mortgage to buy. I picked up a goofy golf visor to shade my eyes without baking my brains like ball caps do.

Was using a 400W Philips CMH for veg but swapped that out for the 600W Hortilux SHPS a month ago.

I always have worn decent polarized shades when out and it's bright. Working outside up north here snow blindness is a real thing. Spent a lot of time on the water fishing and that fries us redheads good too.

20 years under HID and my last eye exam was all good.

I have been using LED's, HPS and the occasional MH...and I did wear protective glasses most of the time, but not all the time.

My mom is pretty much completely blind now from AMD. Turns 95 in Aug and has had it for about 20 years. Still gardening and getting things done in the kitchen at my sister's place.

Might want to look into chelation thereapy to open up the little caplillaries in the retina. Not an approved therapy in Canada or the US I don't think so a lot of people go to Mexico for it but that's big bux as you have to have many treatments over a period of time. Could eat some lead as chelation therapy is approved for treating metals poisoning in both countries.

My birth mother died of dementia at 75 ten years after the diagnosis. I'm hoping it wasn't genetic but at 67 I can still find my ass with both hands so I must be OK so far. Of the two I think I'd rather have AMD but I feel for you.

Method 7’s and ray bans block uv any good sunglasses will do the same or better. plus the better method 7’s cost the same…..ish as ray bans or any good polarized sunglasses.

They now believe that AMD and dementia are linked....That scares the hell out of me too.

Sorry to hear about your mom. My dad is 85 and same thing....Almost completely blind in one eye and he has had it for maybe 10 years. he had a bunch of injections but they did nothing. I can't even fathom having a needle stuck in my eyeball, but I guess you do what you gotta do!!

My wife’s Transitions glasses turn very dark in a few seconds under Philips Mastercolor 4000k CMH.

Everyone should wear some kind of eye protection when working in close proximity to high intensity lighting. The $20 glasses from Vivosun, AC Infinity, Ipower, etc... are just as effective at protecting your eyes as the $125 Method 7 glasses.

I bought the cheaper $65 method sevens. Plants don't care how stylish or cool I look. :blsmoke:

Method 7 glasses and Ray bans are not even close to being the same! Have you ever worn a real pair of Method 7 glasses, im not talking about the cheap knock offs at the grow shop for $20. Go into a grow room with at least 600 watts, try the ran bans you have and then try the approiate Method 7 glasses. You'll change your mind.

i use a miller full face helmet with auto darkening lens. cant' be too safe
