Top genetic Autoflowers typically contain less THC compared to top genetic photoperiod plants. Like any strain and types of seeds.. genetics, environment, etc play a role on end game potency.

The autos I've grown get me plenty high. I haven't sent them to a lab but I can't finish a bowl and the terps are good. Is it the strongest I've smoked, no. But it's strong enough I'd never finish a joint of it that's for sure and that's good enough for me. I haven't been dissapointed in any of Magic Strains potency I've grown or Gnome Automatics. I wasn't thrilled with some of the Mephisto stuff I grew a long time ago but it did get me high. Keep in mind not all photos are killer genetics putting out high THC numbers either. Plenty of mids being grown from photo seeds out there.

I believe, generally speaking, autos have a better "entourage effect" over high THC polyhybrids. I base this only on my own experience.
I don't know this for sure, but I think they might have a wider array of cannabinoids in higher percentages which result in a potentially better "overall body" effect, instead of just a slamming couchlock or head-trip.

I also think MANY MANY people here would agree that high THC isn't the "be all end all" when it comes to getting high. Most, if not all of us have gotten ripped as shit off some 15%er, lol.

Usually there's a minor drop in THC between identical strains if both grown in optimal envirnments. The GG autos quoted 17%, photos 21% from the same breeder, but there's so much variance involved. I've had auto OG kush from a dispo at 21% and photo white thunder at 15%. it's more dependent on strain and environment. Most of the negatives you hear are straight from people with a chip on their shoulder about autos, not the actual bud.
For example a few of my mates said "ill never smoke auto's, they are all trash" yet they've been smoking my autos for two years with no issues. I just drop the autoflower from the name and they rave about it. It's a sad mentality, but very prevalent. They still trash autos at every chance they get, yet drool over every plant I've grown face to face. I've grown AK 420 auto, OG kush Auto, GDP auto, Blackberry gum auto, Chimp glue #2 autos and purple punch autos.
I guarantee any of these with a straight hatred for auto's couldn't pick them side by side if you paid them 100k.

For personal smoke. Trying to get high. They do the trick. Photos tend to have bring back more bang for your buck however + during flower you use less energy. Saving money never sounds bad to me.

For sure. The elec got to me at the last place when I was running 18/6 with three tents and 3x240w quantum boards. At the end of the day though, you can get the same DLI at 12 hours but heat is an issue so I run less wattage for longer ATM. I keep running them as I only grow 2 at a time staggered. I got a few light smokers who buy off me, and I smoke crap all (a full lasts me a month or more) so I generally run one 6 weeks after the other. I keep it at 16/8 now, with a single 240w board. Keeps up with demand and saves me from running a veg and flower tents separately.

Now I have put up a 3rd. So I have a 27”x27”, 34”x60”, and a 4x4. With all the seeds I have. I’m ready to start an s1 project to preserve a cultivar I may not bump into again. I’m going to do it just for me. I will take the s1 & do a 10-20 plant run. With 3-4 of those.. hit them with cs/sts + open pollination
Just to play around, and get some experience.
The cut isn’t really important.

Can agree with that. Use to smoke photoperiods for years. Woke up heavy and feeling shitty most mornings until the next joint. Often falling asleep on the sofa middle of the day.
Now I wake up fresh as a daisy. Feel like my mental health is better for it as well. Not weighed down and feeling empty.
Still smoking 5-6 good size joints a day. Unless I smoke one then go straight to sleep I wake up feeling awesome. Only need 7hrs of sleep now compared to 12. Although the kid probably had something to do with that lol
Keen to grow some photos again but wary of it making me feel heavy in the mornings again. Don’t need that feeling with a 3 year old who’s energy levels are the equivalent of a 12 year old drinking red bull for the first time lol

If i could I would. I'm hiding smoking and growing in uni accommodation at the moment which is no fun. Got dual filters and exhausts in a 2x4, a scrubber and an air purifier in the room. It eats me alive. i've got a few hundred BCN crit/Laos highland photo seeds, a few hundred lemon haze photo seeds, around 50 mango kush photo seeds and my list of Autos goes as follows. OG kush, Northern Lights, BCN crit, Cherry Pie, Super Silver Haze, Amnezia, AK 420, CBD Lemon, Blackberry Gum, GDP, Purple punch and around 100 purple puch cross Durban poison seeds. Its Like having a thousand naked girls in your room and you can't touch. I told myself Id stick to a single 2x2. and plant, I've already set up the 2x4 instead and have a 2x2 to dry. Give me a few months and Ill have the other 2x4 setup as well and get myself kicked out.

Having grown autos along with photos for almost 2 decades now, I only smoke now to alleviate some medical maladies and so seldom smoke to get 'f'ed' up... just means I 'distribute' quite a bit to others often. Of those who partake my herbs, no one ever mentions much about quality I can apply to any specific strain...auto or photo.
Although I prefer autos because my perpetual grow schedule is set up for their genetic patterns, I do enjoy growing photos for their 'adjustability' which can be used to enhance what they do whereas the only thing you can do with an auto is keep'em healthy but their timing can't be changed.
So...IMO...a well grown auto will equal a well grown photo in potency...it's the yeild that will differ...

One of my samsquanch autos I harvested a month ago gets me higher than anything else I've ever grown/smoked. I'm not sold on the higher the thc, the higher you get. Makes sense to me that certain combinations of elements/terpenes/whatever inside the plant at a particular ripeness have more of an effect on a person than just good old thc content. I had some shit from a dispo in CO that said 32% and I felt like I barely got high. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
