Plain Water pH keeps rising. Please Help.

Get some normal phosphoric acid and skip silicates for now, you may need them later thou. You struggle high pH (for me for unknown reason) and you are doing opposite. That pH down sounds for crap, its blend of nitric, phosphoric and citric acids. I am not DWC experienced, but I know that citric acid is doing nothing good in your res. Good luck!

You need to add something to "pure" RO water, a buffer, otherwise the ph will never stay anywhere except 7 if you don't mess with it. There is nothing to ph.
I wouldn't bother pH'ing straight ro water anyways.
it has no correlation to trying to pH when you have your nutes added.
It's not stabilizing the ph, it's driving the ph up.
Thank you all guys. I'm really grateful for all your kind interest. I guess the issue is resolved, it has been 14 hours and pH seems to be around 6.2

Here are what I've done:

- Ditched the Silicate
- Raised ppm to 550
- Removed the airstones.

I again appreciate your time, and your generosity. What a beautiful community.

Nice. Just so you know, aerating the water will raise the pH too.

I also ph my water before adding nutes. However my system is dialed in to get x ml of ph down and with my x Tbs nutes. When combined I reach my EC/Ppm and my ph. The ph does want to swing ill just lower it back down.

I had this problem and it's due to the buffers in the water. The only way to fix it is by using pure water, RO water or anything with 0 TDS

Thats not correct, see post #43.
Ah, maybe that was my problem then because, I always put an air stone in my watering can for 1 hour before I add the nutrients and I was trying to correct the PH before adding my nutrients to the watering can. I will give it another try when I get chance and see if this info helps me :)

This is kinda long, but it's what I was trying to say about the calcium buffer wanting to raise the pH back up. I'm a little rusty on my pool/spa skills. You can skim through it, but pay attention to the Alkalinity section.

Its been awhile but once you mix around 2 EC ph gets stable. For smaller plants never really worried about ph.6-7 was fine.

Nope. You are wrong. I just done a test. I got a 1 liter container and added 1 liter of water with 2ml of canna A and 2ml canna B giving me an E.C of 1.5 And then I added PH down to get a PH of 6.0 and after 2 hours it has risen up to 6.5 and all it's doing is sitting in a container in a dark place.

I use 26 ppm water for my DWC system. No nutes, no additives, nothing. pH is around 7.2.

I lower the pH to 5.8-6.0 using Terra Aquatica pH down, and after like 3-4 hours, pH goes back to 7.0.

I again add pH down and reach 5.8 pH, wait another 4-5 hours and it is still the same. I repeated at least 5-6 times.

I changed the container several times, now I use a food grade container, and the result is still the same.

Same happens if I add nutes as well. I lost many seedlings due to pH fluctuations for the last 4 months. I tried everything, it feels like a spell/curse.

Please help. I started laughing hysterically by myself at home.
I also have the same problem. So I'm glad it's not only me with this problem. And yes. I have also done the same thing. Letting the PH rise and adding more PH down only to find a few hours later that the PH has risen back to 7.0 I have also tried adding nutes like you only to get the same issue. And yes I believe it could be a spell/curse myself. :wall::bigjoint::lol:

The only option we have is to use RO water and then add PH down or PH up depending on what the PH of the RO water is. And then we would need to add cal mag into the RO water as well as Canna A and Canna B and rhizotonic and stuff. But I haven't tested out this theory and I don't feel like trying it only to lose £200 worth of in house genetics seeds

Small volumes of h20 is hard to keep stable especially with an airstone running 24/7. A 5 gallon bucket will only hold 3-3.5 gal. before you cover the net pot. More water volume will stabilize easier. That's my personal experience anyway. My h20 is 60-70ppm and 7ish pH. After Calmag, micro, grow and bloom pH is about 5.8-6. I let it drift to 6.5. I make my top off mix ph'ed down 5-5.5 so it brings it back down.
