Light is too powerful

So my LED light needs to be 18” away from my plants when in full bloom mode (1070 PAR at 18”), I also have 4 supplemental lights going around the outer rim that cumulatively produce 150 PAR at 24” in a fairly uniform pattern across the grow space, though I plan to lower them to 12 inches during bloom which should leave a light gap in the middle.

I added the additional lights because my primary light (advanced platinum p300) has really poor coverage. Super bright but in a super small area.

I’m forecasting a problem here as my plant gets bigger that my grow tent isn’t going to be tall enough to maintain that distance and I don’t want the whole house to smell like weed. I could move the in-line fan and filter outside the tent, but I had another idea. Could I tape a white sheet of paper over the grow light to effectively dim it?

The tent is 72 inches, the filter and fan take up 14 inches, the light 3 inches, so that’s 17”, then 18 inches for the PAR issue, and a 10” pot leaves my plant without much room to grow. Removing the fan and filter helps a bit but it’s still quite a bit shorter than ideal.

I do have a dimmer, but the lights flicker when I use it, which is frustrating. I have topped it, and I will probably top one or two more times to create a bush (rather than a tree).

Other than buying a new light (this is my first grow of weed, I plan to ride the first grow out before dropping $ on a replacement), any thoughts on this, any better ideas?

Since I’m sure this will come up, I could suspend the piece of paper a few inches below the light to avoid fire risk.

Follow-up: Well - I tested the PAR with the paper, not going to work - reduces the light too much. :( Further testing reveals that my dimmer dispite the flickering may work. Though I’m going to have to buy a second timer since I’m going to need the secondary lights at maximum while the main light is dimmed. This should allow me to reduce the distance of the light to 12” and between that and moving the filter and fan to the outside of the tent, I should be golden. 47 inches of grow space!

Don't follow numbers from manufacturers. They only want to post the highest specs possible, doesn't matter if it's a usable setting or not.

Higher numbers and specs = more profit. Don't follow numbers, follow the plants response.

Have you actually used these? I’m doubtful they’re too powerful.
