For at least 15yrs I've been chewing on petioles to determine the plants content and clarity before harvest.
I stopped going by trich color even longer ago.
When new stigma production gets slow and final swell starts occurring , I start tasting petioles.
If they're still bitter (N) or astringent(K) then I stop feeding and give only water.
If brix content is sweet then they get another feeding.
I don't harvest until final swell is complete and petioles taste clean and clear.
Nothing ever needs to be cured.
So does anyone else chew petioles?
