I recently harvested my grow of 3 autos. One plant was chopped about a month ago and the other 2 about 2 weeks later.
I think the buds from the fist plant are ruined…..mold or rot or fungus of some sort.
The plant was small and compact w/ a little over 2oz of dried bud. I wet trimmed it tight, and hung it in my cellar. My conditions were pretty stable at 58-60F and 58-62% RH.
It hung for 10 days and I really thought they were dry enough to start the cure.
I decided to use Grove bags and that’s where the buds went.
I used the most accurate hygrometers I have and they read 62% after 24hrs and stayed there. After about 10 days in the Grove bags I opened one for a sniff. i was hit with the dreaded hay smell.
I got some advice and concluded that the buds weren’t quite dry enough before I bagged them.
I got talked into putting them in a brown paper bag to sweat, and then back into the Grove bags or Mason Jar for the cure.
Boy do I wish I had never went this route.
The buds stayed in the brown bags for 3 days and were opened and turned over every 12 hrs.
I removed them all from the brown bags yesterday and was going to put half in grove bags and half in jars.
When I took them out of the brown bags I noticed that I still smelled hay, but even when I squeezed a bud I couldn’t detect hardly any good skunk smell.
So I examined and discovered some sort of mold growing inside the buds. At first glance it just looks like heavy trichome coverage but the buds aren’t sticky, they come apart kinda dry, and under my jewelers loupe it looks like fuzz growing.
Every single bud has some of this with some being worse than others.
Im sure the heavy humidity inside the paper bag probably caused this.
Can anyone help me out and tell me what exactly this is and is there any option for treating?
Also, my other 2 plants were hanging in the same room until last night…..I jarred them after a 12 day dry and used mason jars.
I guess I just wanna confirm things before I toss these buds in the garbage can.
