Hydrologic better
Same price/cheaper
I disagree that it’s better. The bulk reef supply has a duel tds meter and 2 extra stages with di resin being one. Most deff has more filtration so I’d think it would be better in terms of contaminants. You really should have 2 carbon blocks to get rid of chloramines which was my issue and why I went with this one instead.

I have an apec 5 stage. Its pretty nice and about $100 cheaper.

I did look at that one to. It looks nice I think the reason I didn’t get that one is because I didn’t see anything about the carbon blocks being catalytic carbon which should be used for chloramines. I could be wrong I just didn’t see anything mentioned about it.

My under sink carbon inline or cheap hose inline outside remove plenty. And evaporation is free. Wow.

TY for the grin.
If I was only worried about chlorine I would most definitely agree with you about those types of filters in most cases. Chloramines are harder to get rid of and don’t evaporate like normal chlorine though.

And honestly???? I only use the filtered water for my pets. Straight out of the tap. My plants get to "about a pound" while full organic.
So please do tell.

Other issues in your camp than chloramine if considered at all.

Mine is for me and the pups. Our tap water tastes like crap.
Straight from the hose or faucet for the plants

That was the point of the post was that it’s good for removing chloramine which you don’t want in your water because it can harm plants and most definitely will kill microbes. Hears a good read. https://www.reddit.com/r/microgrowery/comments/e74ijb
I’m not saying that you can’t just use tap water. Many people do with great results but for the 25 percent of America with chloramines in there water it’s best to remove them.

So do you think chloramines have no effect on plants? Guess I’m not seeing where your coming from.
Not to a point that it matters.
I use ro. Dont have to. Never did before. Not really much diff now other than I run my nutes a little higher.
I can pour 60% + of my aquarium water out and pour straight tap water back in and the fish are fine. If it doesn't hurt something as sensitive as tiny fishes gills you have nothing to worry about.

You do know the difference between chlorine and chloramines right? Chloramines is very toxic to fish. Your city water prob uses chlorine which in that case I agree with you. Not to mention your pouring ammonia into your aquarium if they are in your water.

Lol. Sure.
Ya. I know the diff. Seems like your chasing your tail here. It's really not as important as your making it out to be. What's the saying. Mountains outta molehills?

I was generally curious if you knew didn’t mean to come off as a dick if I did I apologize. After doing some more research I’ve found mostly mixed opinions on the matter but something everyone seemed to agree on was that it will kill beneficial bacteria in your soil which makes perfect sense as that’s what it’s made to do. If using synthetic nutes in a hydroponic system some say it can hurt others say it won’t. For me personally and anyone looking for a solid answer the best advice I could give is to remove it because I’ve seen nothing that says it would benefit it so I would rather play on the side of caution. Not to mention there are other benefits of using ro water such as knowing exactly what’s in your water and what’s not. I appreciate your insight and knowledge though.

All good
Will it benefit...yes-ish
Is it worth it per say.... Not really.
Will it kill microbes? Ya some.. they multiply by the thousands every minute so again not really much to worry about.

Something else I found although not very relevant in this case is that chloramines turn to monochloramines in a ph of 7.0 or higher which is suppose to be worse? I run coco so my ph would never be that high in the first place but do you know anything about this?
