Brown slime on roots

ah shit, is that too much H202?

I did some research and a couple people said use 30mL per gallon for the standard 3% solution. (the stuff you buy at walmart in the health aisle) And even then add that amount every 3 days or so.

i think you said 7mL/gal at 30% solution? it seems like 30mL at 3% would be even less than that?
oh my fault, I thought you were using the 30% at 30ml/gal...lol. Can anyone tell me if the 30% hydro grade stuff also dissipates within 4 days? I need to add some more to my solution immediately if this is the case, but fear I may be adding to my previous amount.

If you are having problems and start using H2O2 to correct them, I would add the full amount to your res every other day.

excellent mr. roast...prepare to die.. my fungal foes..

btw...i read in the growfaq that you can never REALLLY get rid of the fungi/diseases that cause root rot. guy says you should just start all over with new mothers and everything. Anyone willing to second that motion?

I think that the FAQ is meaning that it will be passed on to your other plants if you use the same equipment.... i have to say that after my problem i had that killed 2 of my 4 plants.... it depends at where your at and how much damage.... the other two that didnt have as much damage as the other two did bounce back.... but the two that had almost all of the roots go bad never bounced back... i mean they are green...bud the buds arent growing....

Starting over?/.... I was going to but then realized that its only going to get hotter where i live... and that i dont want to be buying a chiller (400+) so next time ill be doing some easier hydro.... Hempy Buckets

and yes getting clones off of a damaged plant like that will pass on.... its like aids man...
roflcopter, really? Thats wild...what if you have like 1 yr old mother that just started rotting a little b/c of non-frequent change outs. Can this matriarch still pass on the wretched disease? What about if you have a soil mother that u have no idea if its rotting or not...

Hey guys...

I've been reading these posts due to my brown slime problem.
I bought the $40 1liter bottle of Hygrozyme and added this with the res change but the brown came back.
I then added Hydrogen Peroxide (3% store bought strength so 3ml/l = 12ml/g i have a 6 gal res. but I only added 40ml instead of 72ml due to my worry.)
I just started my 2nd week of veg with my clones.
I also added about 5ml into a spray bottle with water and sprayed the brown roots as well.
I was seeing good signs within hours.

Hydrogren Peroxide is the way to go. Just be careful with it.
I'm hoping my plants don't die tomorrow.

I had some rootrot on a couple plants that the root ball totally clogged the holes in the pots. The roots were a grey color around the holes in the pot, and they stunk like raw sewage!!

Now that is funny! I don't think Hygrozyme is a GH product, and it has been around for years before AN came along. It was the only enzyme supplement on the market for years.

Ahh the dreaded root rot. I find it is nearly non existent if the water temps are kept in check,The water is well aerated and the light is blocked out. Do these 3 things and root rot should never be a problem. I once got a bit of rot when my air pump died on a DWC setup and I was out of town for a couple days on business. Got back to the smell of rotting potatoes and grey/black damage on the roots. This was rectified by removing res, letting plant hang in mid air for about an hour, scrubbing and cleaning res w bleach solution. New cool (19c 65F) water with low fert levels of 600 PPM and of course a better bigger and badder asssed high volume air pump with check valves. Plant took about 3 weeks to grow out of it and I changed the res with new water every 3 days. No H2O2 was used at all. All signs of root rot are gone and plant was a Mother for the last 9 months. I have taken about 220 clones off of it and not a single clone ever developed root rot. Its not AIDS for plants, it can be cured.

My girls had a bad case of root rot due to my temps getting to warm. I rinsed the roots, carefully taking the slime off, and used Hydrogen Peroxide (Walmart).

I had two DWC's going at the time, and in one I added nutrients back immediately, the other I added back at 1/2 strength. I did this because I wasnt sure what to do and got conflicting info.

the one I used 1/2 strength came back quickly. The ones I used full strength nutes on almost died.

Just my personal experiment, but thought I would pass along.

Glad I didnt kill them off like some peeps said to do. they came back healthy and gave me good smoke.

Well this story ends good. I rinsed my reservoir, gently cleaned my roots, used hydrogen peroxide.

some guy recommended some nutrients he bought off ebay, ordered those, babied the girls, watched the water temps to make sure it didnt happen againand I am going to have a nice yield.

I will post pics soon as I can get my camera back from a friend
