Runoff @ 1400 ppm

So after 2 years of winging it I finally got a ppm/ec meter. Just finished the first week of 12/12 . Water going in tonight was @ 375 ppm. I caught the first bit of runoff and it was @ 1400 ppm. She looks healthy but that seems a crazy number. I let that sit for 20 or so minutes and then ran another gallon of water through and waited till runoff was almost finished and tested again. This time runoff was @ 1150. Should I flush till what comes out is close to what goes in or just skip feeding until the numbers match.

2 600W HPS
10 gal Fabric pot.
75% organic soil
25% perlite
Emerald Harvest nutes (full line up)
Been feeding every day at a full strength mix
Well water

if she’s looking good and no burnt tips I’d rock it. You really aren’t going to do yourself any good by trying to flush the soil. You’ll cause imbalances in the soil.

Well no burnt tips. Healthy green color. Taking up about 15 sq ft now. 3x5

It was probably closer to $20 but when checking other liquids that have a known ph such as lemon juice 2, tomato juice 4, calibration fluids 4, 6.8, 9.1 etc. It can't be that far off.
What are pH drops? Never heard of them. I know these meters, litmus paper, even the soil slurry method. The only pH drops I've heard of are the ph up and ph down liquids.

Soil is a hell of a buffer.
My cheap PH pen is great. Just make sure it reads 9.0 with baking soda in water.

Last a long time??? What do you consider a long time? I was gifted one that had only been used for a year. When I tried to calibrate it it would not calibrate.

sounds like user error if you ask me. it literally takes 5 minutes once a month, had mine 5 years before i got a new one.
you get what you pay for with cheap 20 dollar testers. once i threw a couple of those away i said never again. cheap design, unreliable readings, calibration that borders on impossible


tried emerald nutes because someone wanted to get rid of them so i tried it. Not terrible but more importantly not great either
also if you have been feeding the full strength mix every day for who knows how long than it would only make sense without ever doing a flush or a couple days of water with decent runoff in between then the runoff would be very high that's why the run off number decreased when you ran water the first time

Look for the post about a month ago 4 buckets, 4 plants, 4 pounds trimmed flower. Plus 2 lbs fresh frozen smalls for bubble hash. And 400 GM trichome coated trim for even more bubble.

If you can't match that stfu.
Btw I also have 3 Carson high yield Supernova LEDs 240W each for a total of 720 W a single 600W HPS actually had the higher gpw and g sq ft.
LED .7 gpw 42.25 g sq ft
HPS .82 gpw 54.6 g sq ft

if you are such an expert with such boastful numbers wouldn't you already know the answer to your own question
you have been feeding the full schedule of nutrients, if the plant is not using as much as you put in they are building up over time. and then you wonder why the runoff is high with out water passing through the pot.... come on man
the run off lets you know how much concentration of nutrients are present in the medium same for a slurry test
but you do deserve credit to pull those "numbers" without a quality meter

It's hard to over-emphasize the importance of reliable measurements while growing hydroponically.
In my experience the cheap pH meters are unreliable and often give wildly inaccurate readings.
If you can reliably calibrate your pH meter, you're good to go. Check it frequently.
