It looks like they were topped once. Am I missing something?

What are you talking about hacking on them??? Isn't that what you do when you mainline/ manifold??? I get the cleaning my tent stuff, cause that makes sense, but when you are saying I don't get at all... Make it make sense...Don't just say something like that and not elaborate...
lol Sorry man. I was up late drinking. Didn’t mean to come across like a dik. If you’re gonna top em wait at least until they are a little bigger, say the 4th or 5th node. Unless you are forced to grow mainline because of height constraints it’s really a waste of time, unless you just don’t care about that and just like the looks of a mainline?

I top mine pretty early, but I usually fim them to get a fork. Why wait longer?

I have a literal pile of peat on my closet floor lol
Reminds me of the first house my brother and his friends rented together in college.

Are your floor vents also clogged full of fan leaves and larf?

Did you have to take out a small loan or organize a gofundme to raise the 4-digit deposit needed to open your account at the local power and water utility? (the deposit policy to get the utilities turned on, something like 50% of the previous resident’s last utility bill)

Trying to decide my strategy for my next, since they'll be sativas (close to landrace, but that of course may be all myth). I have no time concerns just height concerns with my tent, so thinking I'll grow to 5 nodes then top down to 3, then top to 8 colas on each plant and flip soon after. A couple of grows ago I topped to third node but did it early then just LST'ed without lollipoping or anything...but they were shorties anyway and did well with 4 mains and a bunch of minor buds.

I've been playing around for too long with this and I'm starting over in a sense, and this is where I decided to start, doing something that takes a lot of patience... I could easily put some seeds in the dirt and just let them grow, as I have been doing, but I want to get better at this...

My wife thinks I'm nuts that my watering/feeding takes so long (I only do it twice a week)...but doing things right takes work. So I pull plants out, I inspect, I may remove a few leaves, I aerate the soil, I mix/ph/TDS my water or feed and I water slowly and thoroughly. While I do that, I'm also neatening up the tent-space, I'm re-metering my lighting, etc. along the way.

That said, I'm not screwing with stuff every day, Just a quick visual peep in the tent in the morning before lights-out.

Bookmarking this for later, to show the boss next time I get “that” response when I tell her I’m going to go water for an hour or so. I told her it’s normal.

I didn't like the way those two looked while they were growing regularly, so I chopped them where it looked like they had the best chance to become what they are now... This is a learning process for me, if they would have grown different, I probably wouldn't be doing this because I HATE TO CHOP PLANTS LIKE THIS!!! I feel like I'm wasting so much of the plant...20220221_025152.jpg20220221_025226.jpg20220221_213724.jpg20220219_152643.jpg

Not me... I can't stay away from that room!!! My situation is different in that my tap water is fucking my shit up,and I don't feel like adjusting my water everytime, so now I'll just buy 20-30 GALLONS of DRINKING water and go from there, because my landlord is such a cheap bitch!!! She's complaining because she has to fix this shit... We don't even have CITY water, this is WELL and it smells like hell and egg shells!!! Serious sulfur!!!

Yeah, well best laid plans often never work the way you think. ;) So there's always some seat of the pants decision making going on.

I've done plenty of gardening and planting, so pruning back doesn't bother me too much. Last summer I regularly removed about 50% of the biomass on my tomatoes and they just produced killer amounts of fruit. I often over-seed and then cull/thin and I have roses (both climbing & bush) that are a whole other world of care, pruning and training.

I see a lot of advice to grow to 6th node, then prune back to 3rd and to do similar on the radial nodes. I'll probably not quite do that, maybe 5 nodes back to 3, or possibly 5 back to 4 then later remove the first set of side-branches. Time isn't a huge issue for me because I just don't go through that much that quickly and have more than enough to let a plant recover and all that. I am dropping from 4 5g bags on this round down to 2x 5g to give room for training width. I'm going to keep the lights pretty strong so that I hopefully have less internode spacing as well, and I won't do any defoliation until I've got my shape and 'mains' all sorted and in order.

I grew for a long time with store bought water. 2 5 gallon jugs. Then I got an ro setup. Then I quit hydro and just use tap water now. I always felt like I was on mission going out on a water run. Used the self checkout to avoid odd.conversations.

Same. Plus I was reusing the jugs and also mixed in them, so they were getting dirtier and dirtier each time I went back for 30 minute refill sessions at like 1am. That didn't last too long. I spent the next several years constantly upgrading RO systems until recently switching over to tap.
