Trump Organization, longtime CFO ask for fraud charges to be dropped
The Trump Organization and Allen Weisselberg, its longtime chief financial officer, are pressing for fraud charges against them to be dropped after New York prosecutors last summer charged them with conspiracy and fraud.

Last summer, New York prosecutors alleged a scheme had been orchestrated by Weisselberg to enrich himself and “other Trump Organization executives” through unreported income, further claiming that between 2005 and 2017, $1.7 million had not been paid in taxes by its longtime chief financial officer.

Both parties have denied any wrongdoing, and former President Trump has not been charged with any wrongdoing.

In court filings on Tuesday, the parties alleged that the allegations were politically motivated, and attorneys for Weisselberg claimed that the Trump Organization CFO had been given immunity when he testified in a case involving former Trump attorney Michael Cohen, The New York Times reported.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s office had “targeted Donald Trump’s associates and companies for investigation and prosecution based on their animus toward his speech and political views,” Trump’s lawyers argued in their filings, according to the newspaper.

Susan Necheles, an attorney for Trump, in a statement to The Hill alleged that the Manhattan District Attorney's office, in addition to New York Attorney General Letitia James (D), were pursuing their cases to stop the former president from being able to seek political office.

"There never before has been a case like this, where individuals were prosecuted in state court for supposed failures to pay federal taxes. As ser forth in our motion papers, the DOJ knew all of the facts here and did not think a case was warranted," she said. "The only reason the NY DA and NY AG brought this case was for political motives. Their unconstitutional behavior should not be tolerated and the criminal case must be dismissed."

Lawyers for Weisselberg alleged in court filings that Cohen had a “vendetta” against the CFO after Weisselberg testified against him in 2018, the Times noted. The lawyers also argued that only the IRS had the jurisdiction to pursue charges related to his federal tax returns, not the New York prosecutors.

Cohen, however, slammed that argument in a tweet on Tuesday.

“This bullshit argument is nothing more than more feeble attempts by #Trump, Weisselberg and company to continue to lie in hopes of blaming me for the investigation into all the illegal actions they committed. No one is above the law and soon this adage will ring true!” Cohen tweeted.

Just like everything Stinky touches it dies lol.

If they only raised a tenth of what they say, Trump made serious coin in this con raised a lot of money for him. As usual, somebody else is left holding the bag. It's already under investigation. You know the story. US investigates, Trump sues, things get snarled up in courts, Trump settles if it ever gets close to a trial. Trump moves on to another con.

Trump social media firm says it has raised $1bn
Published5 December 2021

On Saturday, Mr Trump's firm said it had secured the $1bn from from "a diverse group of institutional investors" without revealing who they were. According to reports, the social media venture is now valued at almost $4bn.

It would appear to underscore the former US president's ability to attract strong financial backing despite the controversy surrounding his time in charge.

Many Wall Street firms snubbed the opportunity to invest in the former president's new venture, according to Reuters. But some hedge funds, family investment firms and high net-worth individuals have backed it.

What to Know About Digital World, the Company Funding Trump's New Social Media Platform 'TRUTH Social'

  • Digital World Acquisition Corp., a blank check company headed by financier Patrick Orlando
  • identities of the investors that have entered into agreements with Digital World remain unknown
  • Orlando himself is a former Deutsche Bank AG derivatives trader who co-founded a sugar trading company and started a banking firm, Benessere Capital
  • As for Digital World’s board, Bloomberg reported in October that it is “light with people with media expertise.”
  • SPAC’s chief financial officer is Luiz Philippe de Orleans e Braganca, a member of Brazil’s National Congress and self-proclaimed prince
  • Former California Republican congressman and Trump sycophant Devin Nunes is CEO of the new venture.

According to a regulatory filing by Digital World first reported by the New York Times, the company’s deal with TMTG is currently being investigated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, with the SEC looking into “documents and communications” between Digital World and TMTG as well as “policies and procedures relating to trading” and the identities of certain investors.

The filing states that Digital World is cooperating with regulators and that “the investigation does not mean that the SEC has concluded that anyone violated the law or that the SEC has a negative opinion of DWAC or any person, event, or security.”

I am indulging in schadenfreude. Guiltily admit.

A review of Trumps social media app:

IN OUR VIEW/A Hit And A Flop:Trump's new social media app wildly popular. If only it worked

President Donald Trump's eagerly anticipated social media app launched Tuesday on iPhone and millions of his still-loyal public clamored to get on board.

The app, developed by Trump Media & Technology Group, is called Truth Social. Members can send out short "Truths" and resend others' messages as "Retruths."

Any resemblance to Twitter -- which famously tossed the former president off its platform -- and its tweets and retweets is purely coincidental.

Uh, sure.

Truth Social is already the No. 1 offering at the Apple App Store. So it's off to a great start. Except for one thing.

It doesn't work.

For all the ballyhoo, the app isn't ready for primetime. It couldn't handle the rush of subscribers and started a waitlist that at last count exceeded a half-million people. And those who were able to access the platform reported problems trying to enter their information or do anything else.

Former California U.S. Rep. Devin Nunes, who is running the app, promised everything would be working just fine -- by the end of March.

Maybe they should have waited to launch. As it stands, we hope President's Trump's faithful have a lot of patience.

bwaaaahhhhaaahahahahahahahahahah

Maybe Devin Nunes took Ivanka Trump's advice when he decided to leave his place at the trough in DC. "Find something new", maybe he decided to write code.

I honestly don’t know how they fucked this up. There is a TON of open source code out there that someone with a basic understanding of code writing could could easily tweak to make it work in a day.

Like everything else with trump, amateurish.

The way Trump flits from one decision and then reverse. The way he micromanages every detail that he's not ignoring. The way he believes he has amazing inherent talent in all aspects of life. The way issues go from "why do you ask" to "this must be solved right now" and then back again. Not to mention how he believes something might work and suddenly everybody must jump on the bandwagon with him, remember hydroxychloroquine or the UV enemas? Remember Dr Birx being asked directly by him at a press conference if she agreed?

The greatest hope for that company is Trump gets bored with it and leaves them alone.
