Welp, it's been about 8~ years since I've grown anything. And the last time I was growing it was a) my first time growing weed and b) I was growing out of a damn cardboard box in my closet. The three things that haven't changed though are that I am still using LED's, still using closets, and still using organic soil/nutrients for my medium of choice! Let's just say the technology and info has grown a bit since 2014. Back then I was using a 65w Hans panel and growing in promix HP with General Organics nutrients and using a box about 3'x2' in size....now that I am an adult and stuff I get to do adult things. Like buy and use full size grow tents. Here's a bit of info on my setup:
Larutan 4x4x6.5~ tent
Spiderfarmer SF4000 LED
Spiderfarmer 6" inline fan/carbon filter combo
3.5" pots for seedlings, 1.5L pots for early veg, and then moving to 5gallon pots for final stages. Unfortunately the seeds that I am using are about as old and rusty as my growing skills - Barney's Farm Blue Cheese will be what I take in to flower. I had a few Pineapple Chunk seeds, a few Strawberry Blue, and one Hawaiian Skunk Haze left over from 2014 but really the only ones that germinated and actually grew were the Blue Cheese seeds. I should just be happy that I managed to get any of these seeds to germinate, so that is what I will be growing until I order in some new genetics in the next month or two.
Some pics of the early setup:
SF-4000 - notice the LED placement on the newer panels for better spread
Using the spare closet to start seedlings/clones or maybe just to veg if necessary. Just bought a couple low watt full spectrum T5 style grow LED's to get things started.
We have life. First couple seeds sprouted about 36 hours after germinating. Not bad for being dormant for 8 years baking away in a metal container stuck on a window sill.
Seeing some weird growth in a few of the seeds - splindly twisty leaves or just odd patterns early on. I'm attributing this to the old seeds/poor storage for now but perhaps my temps and humidity was off just enough to make them uncomfortable. They seem to get better as they grow which is good. One of the Blue Cheese phenos is on steroids apparently so it's been transplanted and I may end up taking a clone or two from this one as I see how it continues to grow.
Things should start picking up over the next few weeks! Forgot to mention that I am using Gaia Green for my soil & nutrients.
Gaia Green - Living Soil/Worm Castings/All Purpose/Power Bloom. Feels good to be back
