I just read Russia said a summit between Putin and Biden (as turns out was the result of that call Putin had with Macron), is “premature”. Putin’s definitely stalling.
EU wants sanctions, but then they don’t. The unelected President of the European Commission, Ursula, outlined sanctions in case Russia does invade Ukraine. Russia would be cut off from financial markets and would no longer be able to import any essential goods from the EU. This would be devastating for the average Russian. Because of the impact it would have (on both sides) Ursula doesn’t want to go ahead with sanctions unless Russia goes ahead with the invasion.
Ugh I missed the beginning of the show while typing this… ah well…

Yet I‘d like to see them implemented regardless. Yes it will affect especially the poor and eldery but right now it affects our own poor-ish and lots of eldery. Whether it’s their trolling, election meddling, their agression, or their evil money schemes, it’s bad business for the rest of us. I’m thinking sanction them so hard they no longer have the ability to influence the global economy except for in a positive way. It would take a few years adapting after removing this weak and unstable link, Russia, but we can handle that easily. Even if Russia would have fair elections Putin would still be a very popular candidate, possibly even win. Seems overdue we show them there are consequences to tolerating or even voting for such a dick.Economic sanctions. Putin isn't going to be affected by them. The people of Russia will be affected, especially the poor and especially elderly whose pensions are a pittance after inflation. Economic sanctions are a nuclear option that hits civilians the hardest. Putin and his oligarchs will be fine.
