I have always been suspicious that powdered nutes are responsible for bug infestations... just my 2

How so? I'm using DTE ferts and have just recently started with organics. I'm using them and recharge as I learn to make my own soil and acquire the funds and space to start a more intensive organic program. I would think things like proper IPM and at the most good worm castings with some beneficial mites would take care of anything in a bag of dry amendments but like I said I'm super new to organics.I have always been suspicious that powdered nutes are responsible for bug infestations... just my 2
Well, you're right. Fresh, healthy EWC or compost is loaded with hypoaspis miles which love eating gnat larvae. I make my own compost and was really hesitant the first time I used it in my indoor. Now the only time I ever get fungus gnats is when I use bagged store bought compost or ewc. Fresher= betterHow so? I'm using DTE ferts and have just recently started with organics. Thanks for clarifying, I was concerned you were saying you were getting infestation from some of the stuff he was showing which is how I use mine. I'd imagine gnats can get into just about anything not sealed up like a bottle. I keep my bags of dry amendments in big ziplock bags to keep them as dry and contaminant free as I can but I don't grow at the size and level where huge bags are common.measured and dispersed in a bag of soil is one thing. making your own composts in another. I've had boxes of (i think bloodmeal) go bad on me... and literally open the box to a swarm of gnats. I've yet to have bugs with liquid ferts, and I use a wide variety of them... just my experience
Good for you bro,I wouldn't go to the well to many times w/that term thoughLuckily my wife is pretty chill about that word being tossed around. She herself doesn't use it liberally. I have called her it in the past and it when over like a fart in church, but to be fair, it was deserved and she knew it. . Any who, for a strain I think she'd be pretty stoked to smoke it.
Look for a local worm farm. I like to get my EWC directly from the local worm farm...Well, you're right. Fresh, healthy EWC or compost is loaded with hypoaspis miles which love eating gnat larvae. Yeah it’s a pain in the ass gettin the amount of soil that’s needed especially when you live paycheck to paycheck, so I gotta get a bag here and there when I can, shit yeah I’m glad to hear they finally took root!! That’s the best way to learn trial and error I usually take clones 3 or 4 times sometimes I only gotta take a cutting 1 time sometimes 2 so I just said fuck it and started doin it by 4sI can't imagine getting all that soil together. I bitch about buying 2-3 bags of Roots organics and have to save up for it. I don't envy you that process brother. Congrats on the transplants, that must have been a project. I finally got roots on my motorbreath 15 clones after 3 failed attempts so hopefully I'll be able to get my grow going forward again soon and in flower in about 4-5 weeks.
So far I’m more impressed with the pink Mizt and the purple #1 x Big Bruce crosses and the Missouri Cookies, But Vanilla Gorilla should be pretty bomb as well, they are all looking really goodI'm watching the vanilla gorilla. That big Bruce strain sounds like a real ass kicker from what I've read on it.
I'll trust your judgement for sure as you've been growing them for awhile. I hadn't seen the purple crossed with the big Bruce until just now when you told me. I had just liked the name of the vanilla gorilla at first so I dove into the genetics. That happens a lot with new strains and me, the name catches my attention and then I will do the research into where it comes from etc. I never buy seeds without a ton of research though because like you I live on a real world budget and seeds are expensive as hell.So far I’m more impressed with the pink Mizt and the purple #1 x Big Bruce crosses and the Missouri Cookies, But Vanilla Gorilla should be pretty bomb as well, they are all looking really good
That’s why I started breeding, like a many people on this site the price for some fire ass seeds can be pricey and there is no guarantee they sprout, but this one I made, purple #1 x Big Bruce is Dinafems Purple x#1 and my Big Bruce, I will from time to time drop 50$ on Dinafem strains, never been let down by them and every single one I’ve gotten from them has done amazing in my area, the Blueberry Cookies i used is from Dinafem as wellI'll trust your judgement for sure as you've been growing them for awhile.
