The closer you are to a liberal democracy the harder it is for minorities to destabilize a country, in a constitutional democracy even majorities have trouble bringing them down. Near democracies like America are most at risk, more democracy usually solves the problem. Hitler never had more than 33% of the vote in Germany, Trump was in the mid 40's, Hitler was smarter, more likeable and electable than Trump! Hence my concern, a fragile semi democracy carrying historical baggage, full of guns, racists and lunatics.

We have the same sorts in Canada and the blockade has caused them to reveal themselves to the media and Mounties. No political party dare get too close to them and the only reason this shit went on is conservative governments coddling them. DoFo is at fault here, highways are provincial matters and he took far too long to act, it's rather obvious most of this shit is his fault and he was late to the game with an emergency order and legislation. I think he was playing politics and trying to screw over Trudeau cause he wants a run at PM for the Tories. Waiting did make the governments case better and the public more pissed off at the idiots though.
Don’t blame Rob Ford, he’s dead. ;)

Don’t be so sure. You live in a time when fascism is gaining ground all over the world. Even in the US!
Is it fascism or covid fatigue? People are understandably leery of heavy handed government policy limiting their freedoms. People are watching other parts of the world reopen, and regardless of the consequences, want to join them.

Masking in public should stay, the rest should go.

Do you remember Charlottesville? Stick your head in the sand if you want to but you should be concerned.
I can't deny this example is troubling, but it was 5 years ago and those that acted poorly, beyond exposing their stupidity, are cooling their jets in prison.

The system seems to work well enough. No reason to panic.

Lol, this thread is so ridiculous. Using the power of "Collective Karenism" to bully a company to bend to your will because you're angry that stupid people get their medical advice from a comedian.

I just can't get on board with this, it's just too stupid.
How is this bullying? He and others are making a personal stand and not allowing what they created to be shared by a platform that’s helps spread lies and cause death. Is he threatening anyone? Is he coercing anyone? Hmmm stupid, that’s what came to mind.

Didn’t know where else to put this. It’s an opinion piece but a worthy read.

Why shrugging off Joe Rogan's use of the n-word is so dangerous
