I had to look it up........now I'm hungry.I'm going to try my hand at cooking on Valentine's Day. Cuz I'm romantic and shit. I was thinking of making balsamic chicken and cheese tortellini. I remember my mom making it as a kid and I think it's something my wife would like and never had. You guys got a recipe for that?

And in the exact same orderJinx!
Exact same recipe
Momma always made it in a skillet. So that's how I'll do it. Thanks! This looks doable for me lol.Like in a skillet or grilled? Either way use this marinade. Bake for 30 minutes at 425
Combine 1 cup balsamic vinegar and 2T brown sugar. Simmer to reduce to syrupy consistency.
Combine about ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil, 3 tablespoons balsamic glaze, tomato paste, 1 teaspoon of honey, juice of 1 lemon in a big mixing bowl. Then add minced garlic (a good 5 cloves), thyme, dried oregano and sweet paprika and whisk (you should have a bit of a thick marinade with a syrupy consistency).
I have a chicken to roast tomorrow but maybe I'll cut it up and try this!
Well ... you could ... if your Valentine is a vegan. You can't go wrong with a nice steak on Valentines day. Extremely simple as well. Just saying.
True. Fortunately my lady is a carnivore. She gets mad if there's no meat for dinner. I've gotten flack for feeding her tofu. She's expecting a steak and baked potato on Valentines. That makes it an easy to cook meal. I'll heat up some of the beans I canned, make garlic bread and dinner is done. I just have to figure out a desert.Well ... you could ... if your Valentine is a vegan.

I'm thinking of making Tiramisu. Not the kind with lady fingers but with cake. There is a Vietnamese bakery down the street at Fubon and the stuff they make is just amazing. Those Vietnamese bakeries are off the charts.
I'll probably try my hand at making this though.
It's the Vietnamese version. I prefer that to the classic Italian version made with cookies. But then I guess it's not actually Tiramisu. We prefer the cake over the ladyfingers. It's good regardless of what it's called.Sounds delicious steak and potato.
But I gotta say the video was a let down. I was expecting tiramisu and got chocolate sponge cake. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Agreed. I shut my mouth now. The first frame clearly showed what I was getting into. Opera cake gets my vote. It's the Vietnamese version. I'm torn between that Tiramisu imposter and this "Opera" cake that I can't verify authenticity but still looks delicious. There's been so much intertwining of cuisines from all around the world that all cultures seem to have their own version of everything. My motto is: If it tastes good then eat it.
It really isn't Tiramisu. It's looks good though. The more I look into it the more I think I'll just go buy a couple slices of something at one of the Vietnamese bakeries in the area. That will make things much easier.Agreed. I shut my mouth now. The first frame clearly showed what I was getting into. Opera cake gets my vote.
In marketing, they would call it "Better than Tiramisu" to get around the label requirements. Usually I am short many ingredients if I were to bake anything so I tend not to.It really isn't Tiramisu.
