Hello all. First time here my first grow… umm
My main concern is light leakage ? I left the tent open a little bit and I checked on them when the light is off with my cellphone flashlight. Is there any cause for concern for them going hermi???
Nah you'll be okay. Just don't keep checking on them.. If they die during the night you've had a bigger problem all along! Let them sleep ;)

Forgot to mention I haven’t had them on12-12 instead I’m gradually going down to 12-12 from 16-8. So everyday I turn the timer to shut off an hour earlier every day. TY for reply

if you stop checking on them during lights out they’ll probably be fine. If you keep doing it they’l very likely herm. As for why I’m gonna guess in nature frequent flashes of light at night suggest fire or lighting plant senses danger and shoots off some balls trying keep its genes alive. Kinda like how frogs will change sex if they can’t find a mate.

To
Simulate real world light time . In real life it doesn’t just turn to 12-12 that’s what I was told to do by a grower who has seen results
im sure your “grower” buddy’s a nice enough person but you should stop listening to them about growing. The point of growing indoors isn’t to replicate nature, it’s to do it better than nature. In nature plants have to make do with the environment that exists, what’s available and survive external stressors. Indoors you design and control the environment around the plants needs.

If you want to occasionally check your plants during dark period get a green colored light. They make them and your plants won’t be affected that way. Though I still don’t recommend making it a habit.

Reminds me of my friend who also grows dad who grew once in the 70s, and keeps trying to tell him to do dumb shit like water it with lemonade to give it flavor. Very nice old man, but damn.

I know the bro science and dumb shit people do bc youtube grower or old guy at hydro shop guys told them is crazy.

So many wise tales that people swear by. It’s no wonder nute companies can rip people off. Every one is chasing the holy grail bloom booster or some magic potion for those “huge primo frosted buds” man. Genetics and plant health is way more important than some magic bottle. It’s a plant at the end of the day.

Critical thinking and common sense is hard to find these days. If you really think about the premise to these wild claims it’s not hard to know when it’s a fallacy someone wished up.

Really Appreciate ur feed back.I’m also sensing the things he’s telling is bs. Luckily only took his advice so far on the turning them to 12/12 slowly. It didn’t make sense to me either . But again that’s y I posted here to get others opinion. Thanks again

I mean that isn’t too bad. Don’t see much of an issue to slowly going down on time, however most every indoor grower just flips to straight 12/12 and there’s no real need to transition. I can at least see some logic and where he’s coming from, being he’s trying to mimic nature.

It would just be a pain in the ass and a lot of effort for little to no gain or effect on your plants.

To be fair I’ve had some plants veg better on 16/8 than 18/6 and autos that did better that way too. But that’s probably because I was using a non dimming 1000w hid in a 4x4 and the dli was just to damn high
