Luxx CLone LED are weak and not an equal replacement for T5 Fluorescent by any means. Anyone else have the same problem? I wanna use this shelf for storing shit now and throw these strips in the trash. I called customer support and even though I bought 8 packs of them due to their claims I'm stuck with them and their tech support said move the plants closer even though I told them the plants were already only 4 inches away from the strips...

Don't need much light for clones.

Put the clone trays on the bottom shelf on a heat mat. Or get rid of the shelf unit keep the t-5's on and toss the the clone trays on the floor on heat mats.

OP: how have you adjusted the climate to offset the spectrum differences between led and flourescent? They will need a bit more heat now.

Also checked the luxx clone web, they dont make that much of promises and by the looks of the web i would never buy from them: no info on diode count, which diodes, no sphere or par number report, no spectrum. They are saying its better than t-5 but no mention of why. However led will make more light per watt than t-5 per watt, but it will also need a bit different climate.

Yes I keep the room 80 °F 55% humidity and that doesn't matter. I either got scammed or these lights suck.
As much as I like and use T5s I find it difficult to believe that a strip of led won't outshine them?
If you're using them for clones they could be too bright clones don't do well under bright lights.
Dude I swear I put 4 of these strips on 1 rack 6 inches from the plants and they weren't growing they were like "stacking nodes" if that makes sense. They were growing like runts and super unhealthy with slow stubby roots where with T5 I'm getting fish scales.. One clone even did re-veg where it self-topped under those LEDs. I've since had to put a 2 bulb T5 inbetween the LEDs just to get the clones to push roots and not have wacky plants.

Pretty disappointing to be honest. I was looking forward to these lights prior to them even hitting the shelves. I use LEDs for my bigger veg room so I'm no stranger to the necessary environmental variables.

I'm hitting as high as 82 °F with 1200 PPM co2 supplementation.

Don't need much light for clones.
Maybe thats the spirit LUXX had when they designed these.

Probably.... to put it in perspective.... I just started some new clones yesterday under my flower room lights and I stuck some paper towel on top of the dome to block the light. Too much light promotes top growth when you want root growth. Also make sure you have a dark period.

just checked the website it says they are 9000k!!!!, hahahahaha. that explains why there is no growth to speak of just node stacking...what were they thinking???...

i have said this before and ill say it again, most led lighting manufactures havnt got a clue what they are doing...

Wow... that'd basically blue.... maybe the red leds subsadise that temp in a way.

IDK too many people running 80w over rooting clones on a rack layer....at 2.2umols/w

EDIT:
Same thing from Illuminar. Heard luxx lost the exclusivity and Illuminar picked them up straight from the factory source.
Notice the recommended heights and usage compared to you...

@grotbags noticed the same thing I did, this spectrum seems a bit heavy with the blue.

Also, not much value at this price point for these specs IMO ($85 for (2) 46" LED strips @40 umol)

With the clone strips they only used 36 watts between the 2 strip so 18 each and the spectrum is equivalent to 9000k or Kelvin witch daylight is usually represented as 6500k so 9000k is really blue and isn't made to grow that's why they aren't doing much that spectrum is geared only for one thing, rooting seedlings and clones in rockwool. All it is would be morning spec

Did you consider that maybe it's too much light too close for clones? See how they do with just one or two of the strips instead of 4. And keep the clones at least a foot away.

This led community is a bit disgusting and I would have to put the majority on par with the vaccination absolutists who just love mandates and cloth masks.
Op comes in and shares his experience, potentially saving others some cash and hardship when they don't get a 1:1 replacement for their T5 and get's pounced on and treated like he has no clue how to grow plants.
Yet, the fanboys continue to cheer for led mandates of commercial grow ops?
Growers love technology, I just look forward to the day that these led peddling bandits actually offer honest products that will swap 1:1 with the technology they claim to replace without all of the woes.

Wouldn't most agree that traditionally plant cuttings are rooted in shade? Any idea what that spectrum looks like?
Strange times we are living in :peace:

Probably not the best light chosen. But to be honest the problem is almost never about the equipment, it's about the grower.

I've just changed the bulbs in my Gt lightwave 4 bulb T5 unit, 4 osram lumilux 6500k cost me £16 delivered.

With old original bulbs @ around a foot was 952 lux after changing the to the new bulbs the reading was up to 1382 lux :-)

Watt for watt 4k led has a much higher output but i get heat from the fluorescents and they're beneficial to my clones at 3 days old.

Well shit... It does seem that way, when we use T5 the results are beautiful. I use LED (4 x Growers Choice ROI-720) in my main VEG room that picture in my post is my clone nursery if you will. I'm plain pissed off honestly its just a big waste of time and they hyped up those LED strips for weeks maybe even months prior to release.

I swapped the flouros in my Sunblsze 22 for LED bulbs, couldn’t be happier

Grow store was trying to convince me to seitch to Luxx last week, they must have an incentive? I do run the Luxx Pro for veg and flower.
