Water Curing Buds; For Dummies

So what do the buds look like after this? Anyone have some before & after photos?

Yeah, it'll look kind of gross while submerged. No worries, though. That's how it's supposed to look. No need to panic. It'll look a bit strange from now on, even after dry.

I used 2 plastic ice cream buckets nested together. The top bucket has holes drilled in it. (it's been used for growing in the past) Bottom bucket has no holes. Toss buds in the bottom bucket, nest the drilled bucket on top and fill with water. Simple and easy to change the water.

You sir, are a boss. If I ever water cure in the future (And I really don't plan on it) I will do this!

Always remember: "hydrophobic" or "not water soluble" isn't absolute. There's always a degree of hydrophobicity, so at least a little bit will be lost with water curing. That and the fact that even if it was 100% hydrophobic, the water can displace the hydrophobic substances... Think if you had an oil leak from your car, you can always move that oil towards the drain by applying water in the right direction.

In this case, I think not much THC would be lost, but that quantity would certainly increase with each time you replace the water

What I found when I did mine was that the water drained after the 5th, 6th, and 7th day were relatively clear. If your water isn't clear when drained then by all means go extra days imo.

It's pretty effin' clear now.
The water surface doesn't stink anymore,
But when I drain it smells awful.

I'll check it out in an hour or so.
I might go the extra day.
If not I will put the buds on stacks of paper towels, and once the water is mostly gone I will hang dry with a fan.

Well if you read the whole thread in the first place, you would know.
Surely anything is possible, and surely we like to test the limits.
So we explore. I know how to air cure, and I will do so regularly, but this was an experiment.



After examining the clear water jar, I emptied the water and started laying them on paper towels..
I basically flipped them like bacon for a good 10 minutes, making sure the buds were hitting as much dry paper towel as possible.
After a while they stopped letting off as much water, so I put them on dry paper towls and started blow drying from several feet away on the lowest, coolest setting possible.

Then I put them in a hanging Ikea basket, the wierd chambered ones that collapse like a telescope. It's made of string basically.
I went to my bagseed, and tilted the fan so it could hit the basket and plant at the same time.
She's asleep right now so it's about the darkest place in the house, and there's a fan right on them.
I figured it's perfect.

Now I just have to hope they dry before tonight.
Or at least before the morning.

They didn't smell so nasty I wanted to puke anymore, but they don't smell dank.

I'll take it easy on you, but people don't like it when others just tell them they're doing something wrong, if you have something useful to contribute that would be nice.
Until then, please work on your grammar, it's hard to read what you write.

The buds were removed earlier, and set in front of a fan to dry.
6 hours later they were crispy.
I have jarred them to cure, but the bud sucks. It tastes like shit and I don't want to smoke it.
The grower didn't know what he was doing, but at least I watercured without molding it.

Yea you really can't fall in love with the flavor of WC bud nor the poopy-looking lumps you see when it's all done.

At least hypothetically you get a stronger product when considering thc/plant material as water curing is supposed to shrink much more plant material away.

I found that smoking it produced a slightly sweet taste and the smoke was not immediately recognizable as MJ smoke. You could probably get away with lighting a WC joint up in a bar and not have a response it's that far removed imo.

The stuff barely gets you high.
I'm in the middle of trying to help the grower out right now, he doesn't know what he's doing and he barely ever sees them.
I think he chopped it way early, never had the light close enough, let it mold, sucked at trimming, didnt flush it, and didn't know what he was doing with fertilizer.

I smoked most of a bowl of it, wasn't really high.
My bro came over and I smoked a bowl of lemon skunk with him,
the difference was astounding.

ok, look up commercial trimming machines, noting you do to your buds short of grinding them up or shaking em around in ice is gonna know off any noticeable amount of trics. i used to worry about perfect trimming and being super gentle but then you realize your better off putting that extra effort in other areas that make more of a difference.

best way to dry after a water cure is to hang them or lay they them on a paper towel and place a fan blowing on them, not a really strong fan, just enough to get a good breeze blowing over them and put them in a dark place for the night, they should be mostly dry by morning and ready for storage or smoke in less than 24 hours.

I tried this method, used distilled water. Air dried on paper towels, weight the weed down in the water but don't use a lid. I didn't flush, dry the bud.I do alot if defoliating, so I have little trim ( I put the stems and trim, in the freezer. Grind and use later in my LEVO). I will reading, until I find out how to store it after drying.

I tested my water ppm's after draining. 7 days did the trick.

I water cured 2 of 5 plants. It is just as strong potency wise. It doesn't smell like weed, burns great, (slow, white ashes, and it doesn't cause me to choke. My family and friends like it too. It is not for someone that wants to sell because the weight does go down a bit, and it is not pretty or smelly. I am smoking mine now a week before harvest. I will definitely use this for concentrates and edibles. Do you happen to know how to store it????

I looked at the trichomes during and after soak. They stayed put. Scientifically, it makes sense. It's faster, you don't have to flush or keep in dark for days. If your scared, try a small amount. That's what I did!!! I need to know how to store it???

This is my medication. This is not my 1st grow. Water curing is the way to go unless you need it for smell or looks. I experimented, SO YOU WOULDN'T HAVE TO!!
