I do 1.5tbsp of the tomato food per gal of soil + 1tbsp/gal kelp meal mixed in real good for veg, same ratio but of the bud and bloom top dressed before flower. Hit with a tea in flower if needed. Grows dank.

What base soil? Added perlite, ewc, or compost?

Depending on the soil you're using you might not want to add anything until the plants are established and then just topdress some into the top few inches of soil. If you use something like Fox Farms Ocean Forest you don't need to add anything at first as it has plenty of stuff for several weeks. You don't want to start out overfeeding your plants.

There's a couple posts a week of someone that added too much fertilizer to fresh bags of soil with overfed plants and clawing dark green leaves or other issues from overfeeding. Something to think about before you go adding stuff to your soil.

When I mixed up my last batch of soil, I used peat moss, compost, worm castings, lava rock, and perlite. I believe I used 30% peat, 30% compost/ewc, 40% aeration (lava rock and perlite). I added Dr Earth Homegrown to this mix, at the recommended rate for potted plants.
Around the time I flipped to flower, I top dressed half and half Homegrown and Flowergirl, scratched it in, added about 1/4 of ewc's on top, and watered that in. 3-4 weeks into flower, top dress with just flowergirl, scratch in, ewc's, and water that in.

That sounds very similar to what I have mixed up right now for my first run, how did everything work out for you?

Its working out great, I love Dr Earth :blsmoke: I would keep a bottle of Neptune's Harvest around in case they get hungry between top dressings.
Been running sips for a while now, plants grow so big and fast it can be hard to keep them fed with just organic ammendments. If you're growing in a regular container you should be golden :bigjoint:

I top dress @ 2tbsp per gallon of medium every 3 weeks with Dr. Earth products. Or if im uppotting ill amend 2tbsp per gallon of medium and mix before transplanting. In mid flower I like to add a bloom booster from build a soil called BuildAFlower. It is important when using Dr. Earth to not forget your Humic/Fulvic acids and microbes/bacterials. This will help the biology in the root zone work with your roots and help breakdown the NPK as needed. All of these additional mentions help as transporters to break down these nutes and get them to your plant. Monosilic acid is the smallest from of silica and is bio available to be uptaken by your plants as well as helps with stress and nutrient uptake. Don't forget worm castings. they do wonders with organics. There are so much more than just NPK when it comes to what can help our plants unlock their best potential. Just as important... having a active IPM regimen in place. This means actively spraying your plants as if a infestation is present but is not as a preventative. What good are nutes if your plants are sick? IPM baby!
