NY AG asks federal judge to dismiss Trump's lawsuit to block probe
James's office filed a motion to dismiss Trump's lawsuit on Wednesday, arguing the former president has not sought to appeal any of the state court rulings ordering his family business to comply with the investigation.

"At no point, despite having ample opportunity to do so in the NY Proceeding, did the Trump Organization or Mr. Trump ever challenge the underlying legal basis for the Investigation or OAG’s statutory authority to conduct the Investigation," the attorney general's office said in its legal brief. "Until now — only after Mr. Trump was served with a subpoena."

Earlier this month, James asked a New York state judge to force Trump and two of his children to comply with a subpoena for his testimony as part of the investigation. In its court papers, the attorney general's office revealed a surprising amount of details about the focus of the investigation, showing evidence that the Trump Organization gave false valuations of its properties to investors, creditors and tax authorities.

"Thus far in our investigation, we have uncovered significant evidence that suggests Donald J. Trump and the Trump Organization falsely and fraudulently valued multiple assets and misrepresented those values to financial institutions for economic benefit," the attorney general's office wrote.
Trump filed his federal suit in December, seeking an injunction that would force James to halt her investigation. His attorneys argued that James is acting out of political animus towards Trump and that her bias is depriving the former president of his constitutional rights.

"The investigations commenced by James are in no way connected to legitimate law enforcement goals, but rather, are merely a thinly-veiled effort to publicly malign Trump and his associates," Trump's lawsuit reads. “Her mission is guided solely by political animus and a desire to harass, intimidate, and retaliate against a private citizen who she views as a political opponent."

James's office argued on Wednesday that the federal suit should be dismissed out of deference to the ongoing state court proceedings over whether Trump and his associates must comply with the investigation. They also said that Trump has failed to provide evidence supporting his claims that the investigation is illegitimate.

"Their allegations, consisting of snippets of press releases, tweets, and public appearances — some of which pre-date the Attorney General’s time in office at OAG — are legally insufficient; they do not support a plausible inference that the Investigation lacks any objective, reasonable basis," the court filing reads.
A hearing in the federal case is scheduled for March 21.

Trump: Biden Risking 'World War III' With Russia
Trump, speaking to Lou Dobbs on "The Great America Show" podcast, slammed Biden for saying that any actions taken against Russia would depend on "if it's a minor incursion [into Ukraine] and we end up having to fight about what to do and what to not do, et cetera."

"What Biden said was psychologically very weak and very bad," Trump told Dobbs. "He said, Oh, they're going in. It was almost like an invitation to go in. We don't want to see that, but it was like an invitation."

Russia has moved some 100,000 troops near Ukraine's borders, a buildup that the West says is preparation for a war to prevent the Eastern European country from ever joining the NATO alliance. The Kremlin denies planning an invasion.

Dobbs told Trump there had been a report that Biden was considering sending 50,000 U.S. troops to Europe to help defend Ukraine.

"To start World War III, to start World War III," Trump told Dobbs. "It's just all so crazy. And it would have never happened under me. It would have never happened.

"Taiwan, which will happen eventually with China, probably after the Olympics, would never have happened. Now bombers are flying freely over Taiwan."

Trump blamed Russia's aggression — and China’s — on Biden's disastrous U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan late last summer.

"There’s a lot of dislike, and I think I lot of distrust on behalf of Russia toward us because of what happened over the past year," Trump told Dobbs. "They look at our country and they're laughing, they are laughing out loud.

"This is just a lack of respect for us."

Trump said the situation involving Ukraine is "a NATO problem, European problem."

"NATO is something that, until I got here … you know we were being ripped off," Trump told Dobbs. "We not only got ripped off with trade from Europe — they're almost as bad as China as far as I'm concerned. They were ripping us off left and right.

"On top of that, we defended Europe because they weren't paying their bills. When I got in, I said, 'You're not paying your bills. You gotta pay your bills, you're delinquent.' And they said, 'Does that mean you wouldn't fight for us?' I said, 'If you’re delinquent, I wouldn't fight for you. No, you're right about that.'

"The next day, billions of dollars came in."

Trump said his administration recouped $400 billion from NATO countries.

"We were paying for most of NATO. And then I look at this situation, and they want us to go over," he told Dobbs.

Glad to see the former guy has such a firm grip on foreign policy from his retirement home in Florida. The comment that Biden’s handling of Ukraine was “…very weak and very bad”, is just so intellectually cutting and insightful.
I miss that kind of advanced analysis of geopolitics since he left office. The way he tied it all back to Afghanistan is amazing, such a sharp man. Sharp and powerful. Amazingly sharp and powerful. The most sharp and powerful anyone has ever seen before.
Honestly though, what in everlasting fuck is he even trying to say in that interview? It must play well with the base but his utter lack of coherent positions on NATO, Ukraine and Taiwan from a former president is disturbing. Not to mention his little bromance with Kim Jong-un.

New polling delivers a staggering blow to the MAGA movement by revealing that a whopping 70% of American adults do NOT want Donald Trump to run for president again in 2024.

Sorry Stinky, no one likes you.
Looks like he's down to the 30% or so of antisocial assholes who exist in every country, Donald hit rock bottom. Once he's in deeper legal shit, the long knives will come out for Donald inside the GOP elite. If they don't lock Donald up soon, the McConnell wing of the GOP will have to challenge him by primary season. Donald will be a bull in the China shop for the republicans during the 2022 election, particularly if he's indicted before or during it.

If Georgia indicts him for election crimes or conspiracy this summer, he will want to refight 2020 and promote the big lie as legal cover in Georgia, since it's an election crime he committed. If he's convicted, or even indicted for a state crime, the republican governor of Georgia will have to pardon him if he can or say he will. Donald getting indicted in Fulton Co Georgia before the election could be a game changer.

Imagine a black prosecutor, and perhaps judge and a black majority jury, sending Donald up the river for 5 years in Georgia! The solid south would shit, so would Donald. I've heard Georgia has the best case that can be brought the quickest too. Jesus, Donald on a chain gang...

17 percent see path to reinstate Trump before next election: poll
Roughly 1 in 6 Americans believe there may be a path to replace President Biden with former President Trump before the next presidential election in 2024, according to a new Monmouth University poll released on Thursday.

Seventeen percent say that they still see a path to reinstating the former president sometime in the next 2 1/2 years, despite Trump losing both the popular and Electoral College votes to Biden in the 2020 presidential election. Six percent say they “definitely” see a path to replacing Biden with Trump, while 11 percent say there “probably” is.

There’s no legal way for Trump to be reinstated as president before 2024. The U.S. Constitution doesn’t provide for such a possibility, and even if Biden were to somehow be removed from office, Vice President Harris would be next in line for the presidency.

The vast majority of those surveyed in the Monmouth poll — 77 percent — say there’s not a path for Trump to be reinstalled in the White House before the next presidential election, including 56 percent who say that’s “definitely not” a possibility.
Still, the poll underscores the extent to which some Americans remain convinced Trump actually won the 2020 race for the White House, despite finishing with 74 fewer electoral votes than Biden.

Sixty-one percent of Americans believe that Biden won the 2020 election “fair and square,” according to the Monmouth poll, while nearly one-third of respondents — 32 percent — attribute his victory to voter fraud, echoing Trump’s baseless claim that the election results were marred by cheating.

Nevertheless, a majority of Americans believe that voter fraud is at least a minor issue. Forty-one percent of respondents in the Monmouth poll said it is a “major problem” while another 28 percent said it is a “minor problem.” Twenty-nine percent do not believe that voter fraud is a problem.

Donald Trump has $93 million in cash, Forbes report says, citing 2020 disclosure. It's far less than he's claimed at other times.
Donald Trump had about $93 million in cash during the final year of his presidency, a sum substantially smaller than he had claimed to have in the bank in previous years, Forbes reported Monday.

Forbes based the valuation on documents released last week by New York Attorney General Letitia James as part of a civil investigation into possible fraud schemes at the Trump Organization.

The magazine compared it to previous, larger claims Trump has made about how much money he has — notably in a 2015 interview in which he claimed to have $793 million in cash.

The publication noted that cash is only one part of the picture, given Trump's portfolio of real estate and businesses.
Nonetheless, the cash figure differed vastly from a string of other valuations, including one Trump gave directly to Forbes in the hope of convincing it to elevate him on its annual rich list.

According to Forbes, Trump boosted the figure even more in a sit-down interview with the magazine in his office in Trump Tower in 2015.
"As of today, I'm at $793 million," he told the publication, citing a figure much higher than previous ones.
Forbes said Trump said the increase was "because I sell stuff," noting the sale of the Miss Universe pageant for nearly $30 million.
"'Here's your cash number here—or market value: 793," Forbes reported Trump saying. He is said to have held up a blank piece of paper with "793" written in Sharpie as his only evidence.

Forbes said that it estimated his cash holdings as $300 million for that year, a figure it now believes might still have been too much.
According to the documents released by the New York AG and reviewed by Forbes, Trump's cash and liquid holdings were listed at $114 million in 2016.

They were listed at $76 million in 2018 and $87 million in 2019, rising to $93 million in 2020. It reported that his cash value might have been boosted to about $280 million by a recent refinancing deal for two New York City skyscrapers he partly owns.

Looks like the heat is getting to Donald, he should pay the legal bills of the 1/6 insurrectionists and pardon them. I'm sure those who ruin their lives protesting justice for Donald in America's streets will get all kinds of money from Trump's legal slush fund.

Trump calls for 'the biggest protest we have ever had' in DC and other cities if prosecutors investigating him 'do anything illegal'

  • At a rally in Texas, Trump called for nationwide protests if prosecutors investigating him "do anything illegal."
  • Trump faces various investigations into his actions as president and his financial affairs.
  • He sought to link the investigations to his baseless claim that the 2020 election was rigged.
Speaking at a Texas rally, former President Donald Trump called for nationwide protests if prosecutors investigating him and his businesses "do anything illegal."

In the speech, he appeared to link the investigations to his baseless claim that the 2020 election was rigged, which led to the January 6 Capitol riot.

"If these radical, vicious, racist prosecutors do anything wrong or illegal, I hope we are going to have in this country the biggest protest we have ever had in Washington DC, in New York, in Atlanta and elsewhere because our country and our elections are corrupt," Trump told the crowd in Conroe, Texas on Saturday night.

No rally for me, you know this guy gave me the creeps back when I used to see him chumming around w/Dion King at the boxing matches in the 80's and the fact that he still has supporters is an example of manipulating social media and customized news feeds that radicalize people. There's no way he could exist as we know him today prior to the digitalization of our society.

It is hard when you have regional differences that end up screwing people when you try to do a one size fits all fix. We have people who don't have SSN's or birth certificates that are not only poor, but also elderly and have no reason to spend hours in the secretary of state's offices just to be denied or have to pay money that they don't have just to get the ability to vote.

And to really fix it, would take a lot of resources focused on improving the lives and access to the vote for people that the Republicans have been trying like hell to keep from voting.
i needed a copy of my birth certificate recently, i didn't pay a parking ticket when i lived in Mn......20 years ago. they wouldn't update my drivers license till i cleared it up, and when i did, they said since this was essential a new license now and no longer just a renewal, i had to have my birth certificate to get a federal i.d.
there are now services online that do the entire process for you. they ask several questions, then they get your birth certificate mailed directly to you, and they charged me 19 bucks...
went back in with it and had my new federal i.d. in ten minutes...you do not have to spend hours camping in anyone's office to get an i.d....
if you don't have a SSN you have a whole other problem to deal with

Like if you were not born in a hospital?

Also a problem (even if you were born in a hospital and got a birth certificate) would be if you don't have a computer/access/$19.

Until the racist shit of our past if cleaned up we are screwing Americans who have always voted just because racist propaganda pretending like anyone not in a right wing cult is going to spam votes and risk prison time for Dear Leader/any politician.

Why call the feds? There are state police in Georgia and she is a state prosecutor, unless the state police are unreliable or won't cooperate, or are ordered not to provide services.

Georgia DA asks for FBI help after Trump speech

Fulton County, Georgia, district attorney Fani Willis is asking for the FBI's help in providing security for buildings and staff one day after former President Donald Trump called prosecutors investigating him "racists." Trump also said his supporters should hold "the biggest protests we have ever had" in cities like Atlanta if the prosecutors "do anything wrong or illegal."

I learned today that Texas is requiring a drivers license number or SS # (no pun intended) to obtain a mail in ballot
No matter your past voting history
I never give my SS# to almost anyone let alone a foreign country

not trying to be a douchebag...but that last paragraph kind of doesn't make sense...really, not critiquing your writing technique, it doesn't seem quite coherent to me. there's at least some punctuation missing and i'm not sure where, exactly
