That extra density after its dry is a big part of letting plants properly finish. Most cannbis plants will get to a point where they stop really growing on the outside, but they aren't done. They are still usually working inside though for a couple weeks. You'll notice once you let some plants go long enough that they will start to bend over from the extra weight they are putting on during this timeframe while they "swell". The extra weight is the internal density increasing. That extra density also helps to slow down the drying process which encourages better tasting and smelling buds too
.Patience, ain't it a pain? I mean seriously, I'm right there with you and I can barely stand it sometimes, but it pays-off big time in my experience.
The tomato as a comparison is the closest I've come-up with. You can watch it ripen on the vine, get nice and full and colorful . . . or . . . you can pick it a little early, still with nice color and let it sit to ripen on the window sill or in a bag. It'll still be ripe but, I bet you'd like the vine ripened one better. And those trichomes on the tomato plants never turn amber. Yeah, I know it's not a totally fair comparison, but the 'old guy' is right in my world. An old guy taught me what he knew about outdoor growing and he too didn't know what those fuzzy little things were. I took that and my own gardening experience, applied some indoor science (lights, tents, vents, etc.) did the math and viola!
I admit being fascinated by the whole trichome coloration and watched it myself for ages. Now, I look at them but don't break a sweat regardless of color. They're plants and nothing will ever be identical anyplace at any given time, especially indoors. I have my own little 'tells' as to when my plants are ready at any given stage, they're not scientific and based solely on the look, feel and smell of the plant (even tomatoes). They 'tell' me when they're fat, full and ready.

I think its my impatience coupled by the price of weed lately where i am, it had me harvesting early but they always do look ready..
but im taking note of the late internal growth and will go the distance this time. I cannot wait though, this #4 plant while small the buds are so big, like proper heavy golf balls. Pretty sure the branches will bend soon.. but it may be stocky enough to hold the weight.

Would love to see those golf balls….I never get tired of looking at good buds growing.

i just lifted down my good camera and it looks like someone threw it at the floor, smashed a bottom corner off and the screen has a big crack. absolutely busted. WTF... i am beyond gutted. I have no idea how this happened.... I will get some phone pics when i have recovered from this shock... fuck

Cats! im guessing it was those little shits... ah man. that was the worst thing to see, i really loved this camera. Literally looks like it was thrown at a wall but no other option than cats lol They're lucky i love them. Lesson learned. Keep the next camera in its case. At least the lenses are okay..

we have 6 of the scoundrels, wrecked my leather couches and chair! Also cat hair on the buds as I can't keep them out.
Too funny man, I’ve got cat and dog hair all in my buds. When I scope them it’s unbelievable how much hair and lint or whatever is stuck in there. It’s to the point where I’m gonna hafta wash my buds. I never thought I would get sucked into that world, but I’ve looked into it and people swear by it. Otherwise my buds are gonna taste like a golden retriever/ tabby hybrid.
