On a whim a bought a new light for my 2x4 grow. 400w updayday.
My previous lights (mars and spider) have recommended hanging height in the "user manual". This one does not. Online it shows a par map at 12 inches in a 4x4 for flower.Would you take this as the height I should hang it?
Probably way over thinking this and assume yes. Nonetheless thanks for any answers... or laughs .. also is the hand over canopy heat test still a thing for LED lights?

I wouldn't hang it 12" to start in flower. You'd probably do well to start at 24 inches in veg, then start tuning it in as the plant gets used to the new light. Just lower it little by little every few days, keep an eye on your top leaves for damage and back it back off if necessary. You might end up doing fine at 12" but I'd expect more like 16-18, but it could be higher also. Good luck!

I have separate veg and flower. Veg under 80w from clone for 3-4 weeks. And had 250w in flower... Until Now.
I'll take your advice and start with hanging it 20" or so. Thank you much

Sounds good, just keep a close eye on them even at 20" just because that will still be much stronger than they are used to under the 80w.
