I'm not sure what you have read or which provinces you are referencing, but the prices are lower than pre-legalization in BC & Alberta.

Yes they do charge ridiculous price/gram for the top shelf MJ, but decent prices on the rest, especially if you buy an ounce.

Since we can legally grow 4 plants, there is a surplus of product floating around thus the black market has had to lower prices.

A quarter pound previously cost about $700 for premium MJ, now it would go for around $450 (or less).

Average grade MJ will sell for $20 for 7 grams if buying from home growers.

Right on this site - there's a thread called weed is worth Zero, or something like that. In honesty, I have no idea what province.

We in the UK know all about ridiculous prices, unfortunately. I cannot see legalisation on the horizon for a LONG time. It was legalised for prescriptions, but I don't think they have actually prescribed it at all. Even if they did, the cost of the prescription would be daft,

Sorry my bad, I thought you were insinuating that prices were not lowering..... that thread is confirming that the prices have dropped since legalization, which is good for the masses but bad for the black market.

Not at all - judging by that thread, it seems that prices in Canada are rock bottom. I think thats what the guys were discussing - how their product is worth less than before legalisation. Thought that would always be the outcome of legalisation though, but I cant talk too much on legalisation, as I have no experience of it here in the UK.

It always going to be a toss-up though, right? Legalisation brings certification and knowing exactly what is in whatever it is you are buying. Downside is that prices will be affected, with the tax that will have to be paid.

It can be done though - Amsterdam is a great template, although all my experience there is as a tourist - not sure how a Dutch person would feel about it.

Personally I think the lower prices is a great thing for everyone except those who made a living off selling/growing it.

I lived in England (1995) and was not impressed with the quality and prices of MJ or hash.

Then I spent a year in Spain where the hash was to die for and was dirt cheap

The hash comes over from Morocco - I worked in Gibraltar for a while - we'd hear the powerful boats at night that the smugglers used to move their gear from Morocco to Europe, via Spain - they'd usually be chased by a few police craft.

One thing I can never understand, it's not legal to grow weed in the UK but there are 3 grow shops within a 10-minute drive from where I live (they only sell equipment for growing cannabis ) also there are a couple of seed banks in the same distance.

I would typically get my smoke from London, or Glasgow, as I had good connections in both cites

it's not illegal to own all the gear needed, nor is it illegal to own the seeds.

It is illegal to use the kit to germinate and grow the seeds though.

Thats the UK's f'ed up laws for you!
