You guys ever have your rosin come out super oily you can't even really get it all together. I have a bit that I just can't even really work with at all. The good news is it's a strain I didn't keep or like that much.
That stuff looks pretty nice.Nugsmasher Mini
Cannarado Genetics Money Gun (White Runtz x Gushers)
4 grams in, unknown yield (its a bitch to weigh/work with)
190f/160micron, smashed for 2:30-3mins

The only time i ever weighed my presses i was getting between 25-30% return which i was blown away by. Cannarado GMO x Grape Pie. By the looks of it, the Money Gun didnt yield quite as much but still pretty good. Ive only had bad returns from weed i bought, never anything i grew. Mostly because the moisture content of most weed bought and sold on the streets (and even some dispos) is much lower than fresh cured stuff. That stuff looks pretty nice.
Ya this shits a pain to work with and weigh but its well worth the hassle.
I generally do 3 gram pucks everytime that way when I collect it I have a good idea what strains yield good and what ones don't. Seems to me that if it's fluffy at all I get next to nothing.
I usually just tear a small piece of parchment paper when I'm almost done collecting after my press and tare it on my scale, then as soon as I got it all I just wipe it all onto the tared piece of parchment.
I have a few nice cannarado keepers I've had for a few years, so far I've got .5 from three grams out of 2 of the keepers(one night stand, Doho x pyxy styx), 1(wedding cake x doho) got around 10-15% but I had to chop that one early due to bud rot starting inside the top cola. Also had 2 sundae driver keepers but got rid of one(purple pheno) had a little left so I pressed the usual 3 grams and it got .6 - my best press yet. I didn't have any of the sundae driver pheno I kept so I'm hoping it presses similar to the pheno I let go.
What kind of yields are you getting?
On good presses I'm getting 17-20%
Decent press 10-15%
Not good 5-10%
Horrible 0-5 %
Pretty sure a couple times I've got next to nothing, I'm just glad that it has only happened on strains that I don't like.
Thanks for the tips, now that I think of it I haven't got the oily consistency since I lowered my temp to 185-190, think when I got the oily stuff temp was 200-220 but I also haven't tried that strain again. The only time i ever weighed my presses i was getting between 25-30% return which i was blown away by. As for the oily consistency, i think a lot of that is temp related. from the temp of the press to the temp of your working environment. lowering your press temps by 10 degrees or so can help, and if you cant get it off the parchment put it in the freezer for a minute or 2 and try scraping again. Theres a sweet spot between oily and shattery that can be achieved by getting the paper cold.
I had a BOO indoor absolutely dripping and it yielded depressingly bad. Got super cold and dry time got shortened, but i caught it before shit went south. I'll be pressing that one again though. The outdoor BOO gives off a nice peanut buttery rosin though. Thanks for the tips, now that I think of it I haven't got the oily consistency since I lowered my temp to 185-190, think when I got the oily stuff temp was 200-220 but I also haven't tried that strain again.
Also when I first started my material was way too dry which contributed to my shitty yields but now that I have the bovida packs the yields got alot better.
Have you ran any strains that weren't very dense?
Cause I ran some frosty not so dense bud and I still got pretty shitty yields after the bovida packs.
When you say 2 presses you press once, then put the squished puck into new parchment and squish again? Do you get much more on the second squish?I haven't pressed much of my indoor. I've got a surplus of outdoor I'm loving. I've been going for shorter, cooler presses the last few presses. My last press was at 170/175 ( 2 presses) for 1 minute each. I really like the texture of this, it's very easy to dab. I do need to clean up my material before pressing though, I get some chunder in my rosin from time to time not using bags. Cocoon from Bodhi

Edited to add that at this low temp I still pulled around 15% where it's normally 20%. I think with a little practice i could up that number a little and still press cool.
Yes, fold over the squished bud and use new pachment. I never did that till I dropped my temp and times and you do get more. I was only doing 60second presses at 170/175. I havent tried two presses at 190/200 though. Worth a try. When you say 2 presses you press once, then put the squished puck into new parchment and squish again? Maybe I'll reduce my first press to 180, do you up the temp on your second press?Yes, fold over the squished bud and use new pachment. i dont mean to sound arrogant but i use pretty good lights and genetics so most of my nug is dense. Yes. It's all new to me though. If i was looking for yield, I'd press longer the second press as well. I just didnt want it to darken too much that second press so I went 60/60 with a slight heat increase. I really dont know wtf I'm doing haha. Just have #aboutalb of outdoor to play around with.Maybe I'll reduce my first press to 180, do you up the temp on your second press?
Ya I hear ya, when I'm running my keepers this won't be a problem but the last couple of years I ran 1 round for a pheno hunt each year of over 20 plants so I usually end up with a fair bit of undesirables unfortunately. Was hoping to make rosin out of them but the lack of yield is deterring me from doing that. Think I might have to make it into hash first in order to get any type of decent yield. According to Frenchy cannolli fluffy buds do better for making hash compared to denser buds. Guess it's opposite to making rosin.i dont mean to sound arrogant but i use pretty good lights and genetics so most of my nug is dense. Frenchy was the man. RIP. The yield on washing buds and then pressing is so low i could never stomach washing my harvests even though i have all the supplies to do so lolYa I hear ya, when I'm running my keepers this won't be a problem but the last couple of years I ran 1 round for a pheno hunt each year of over 20 plants so I usually end up with a fair bit of undesirables unfortunately.
