My half ass clone attempt.

I’ve been growing for a few years now. I’ve tried cloning twice. Once was just stick it in a glass of water and see what happens. The other was in Rockwool with a dome and some rooting gel.
still no luck.

Definitely did things wrong like prepping the rock wool and keeping it too wet.

so here goes lucky attempt #3. Got everything set up. 23watt CFL handgun light to scare the roots out of them. lol.

cubes are soaking in 4.5ph water right now. Going ttake cuttings tonight.

any last minute advice?

Did a bunch of reading. They said to ph4.5 and the cubes will raise the ph as they soak. Which it has.
My plan is to mix a weak batch of feed 100-200ppm @ 5.8ph. Pour that over the cubes on a Drain rack. Then use them.

Idk much about cubes because I stick my clones straight into soil but I agree ph'd to 4.5 seems odd.
That aside I would like to ask if you know what sort of temps are in that dome with the light on? You want it warm and in my cfl experience you need that sucker pretty close to warm a dome unless you have something else warming it like a pad or something.

I’ll use the term “they” very vague and loose. As I found recommendations of 4.0-6-0 ph and everything in between.

Yes that tray is heated. On a thermostat for 78*F

I just soak rockwool cubes in 5.8 ph water with the recommended dose of clonex solution. I've never bothered checking the ph after I put the cubes in to see how much it has changed. Stick them in a tray and spritz only the dome with water, never spray the cuttings, especially if you have a crowded tray.

Humidity is where you going wrong.

The clone has got no roots so will struggle to uptake water as its only method is through the xylem.

Keep it in a dome or a small space with a humidifier

The dome always has humidity on it. Room humidity is 50%

Yes but the room it is in 50%. Inside the dome has got to be above 70% I would assume with the condensation on the walls without spraying. That’s just moisture in the bottom of the tray

I have been told that I need to have a clipped back node sunk in the cube. That is where they will start roots from? Is this true?
