To freeze dry or not to freeze dry

Greetings everyone that's a small grower I'm curious about a freeze dryer to try the perfect buds. I've noticed a lot of large companies freeze dry their product to lock in smell taste and bag appeal. Has anyone ever used a freeze dryer? I'm very curious to see the results

ive smoked it, seemed fine but was different enough idk if id buy it again.

Thanks for your reply. I'm pretty good at growing but at the end of the day my buds don't look like they did when I chopped them. After a 8 week cure, they turn gold lol. Trying to lock in look and smell

I use my Medium Harvest Right for my harvests over the last year. Trying to find that sweet spot because sometimes I make it too dry, but moisture will return with integra/boveda packs. I use to use the default tray setting but the last few batches I brought my trays down from 125f to the 65 or 70f level to preserve more of the temps. Chunkier buds at the lower temp will require a little bit to dry at around 24-26h but terps were better retained. Plus the size and colour of the buds are great, but will require a lot more storage containers to keep everything fresh. Picks from my first try with Barney’s Farm LSD strain. I should of gone a week or 2 longer but got impatient. Still smokes great and a blast watching tv/movies with

havent tried freez drying yet, but i did a long cold dry on some hindu kush and it was wonderfull, flavour and smell were out of this world. enough for me too try the freezer drying

If I had a freeze dryer I'd be putting all kinds of burritos and ice cream in it 24/7...separately I mean. Oh and buds too, of course. I think we're going to see a lot more freeze dried cannabis commercial products in the coming years too.

Thanks for thinking input brother. I grew some killer strains and hated the old school way. I wanted to lockin that look and smell at chop.

Sour Skittles are amazing and I don’t even like skittles. Also gotta do some soft caramels too, because they come out puffy, crunchy and god damn delicious
