24/0 there's no argument except that it uses more electricity. Your lights will last longer (total hours wise) if left on. The start up arcing erodes electrode surfaces.Which way makes your plant grow faster, constant 24 hour light or 18 hour light and 6 dark?

That's right^ I think it's good to use 18/6 cause your plants and light get a chance to rest.24/0 there's no argument except that it uses more electricity. Your lights will last longer (total hours wise) if left on. The start up arcing erodes electrode surfaces.
actually I first heard about the erosion thing for florescent, HID are basically the same in that they have a high voltage arcing at startup. I heard a guesstimate of 20 % longer life which is about the same as the 6 hours extra so it's basically the electricity your only paying for. When your growing money trees that's not a concern.I run 18/6 mainly cuz the power bill like most others running 18/6. But I also thought it would save hours on ur bulbs, at least if ur a CFL user. It does make sense though for HIDs, as gettin those things fired up over and over and over would wear em out, both the ballast and the bulb.
That's it in a nut shell for you.diff. strokes for diff. folks some like 24/0 and swear by itand others like 18/6 and swear by it... i guess u cant go wrong either way
